N-400 timeline and going abroad

Hello guys, long time! Resurfacing now that the 3-year mark is fast approaching :)

I'm glad I started checking things out early, and want your advice.

I might be offered a expat position abroad next year within my company, and it would be important to get US Citizenship before that since I might lose my green card otherwise.

Looking at the USCIS processing times, it says for my field office of San Diego that they are now processing :

N-400 Application for Naturalization March 23, 2015

But if I look at our VisaJourney immigration timelines, the few people in San Diego for N-400 that filed in Feb-May timeframe already had their oath ceremony before September end.

I'm trying to understand how long from early filing (-90 days) should we expect to be done with the Oath ceremony. I'm counting more like 4 months total than the 10 months advertised..

There is no way to say for sure! Uscis processing times are rarely accurate and most peeps seem to be done in 4-6 months but with that said you could be that unlucky person who actually will wait for 10 months...

Noa 1 August 15th 2011
Noa 2 March 2nd

NVC case numbers March 22nd
My sons AOS and IV bill paid March 23rd (status in progress)
My sons AOS and IV bill shows as paid March 26
My IV bill paid March 26
Both packages sent on March 26
My IV bill shows as paid on March 27th
CC on both cases March 30

Current record holder of fastest through the NVC :D

Medical exam in Stockholm April 13th
Interview on May 16th !!!
POE Anchorage July 12th!! 2012

July 2015 n-400 in the mail

September 2015, interview

October 23rd 2015, Oath ceremony!!!!!​​

I know there's no way to know other than being prepared and having good amount of luck :)

I've been checking the tracker site too that I used for I-485 (http://www.trackitt.com/usa-immigration-trackers/n400) and looks like 4-6 months is the "norm"..

Do you guys know any other tracking sites?

So technically by applying 3 months early the fastest is more or less 1 month after your Residency Anniversary.

That puts me in the August 2016 timeframe then. Good to know.

I thought I could apply worse case from here and come back for interview and ceremony within the same trip, but there's fingerprinting too and they all seem about 1 month apart so not really practical ! :( (Plus all the communications via snail mail).
