By your sane logic, if a white kid was murdered, no one should be upset because white teenagers aND men go on mass shooting sprees, yes?

Oh no. Your kidding right. Look back at the Paris thread. Many many post pointing out the fact, that how could we be outraged about Islamic terrorism when gun violacne was such a problem in this country.

well i think it comes down to how you interpret the argument to begin with.

i take issue with the islam bashing that goes down after a terrorist attack because i want to see all religions bashed equally. in my mind they all hold the same propensity towards empowering and validating extremists. i can open a bible and read some verses that could be interpreted as "it's okay to sacrifice your child if god tells you to do it" or "don't marry someone that isn't from your tribe". i'm not surprised at all that the same sort of blatantly wrong acts or backwards thinking can be validated by picking a verse in the koran. tomato tomahto. the premise of blaming or pointing the finger at a religion for murder is pointless. the blame lies with the murderers - so keep it there. to go off about islam is distracting to the actual culprit.

i'm pretty sure i've said this before, as much as i would love to snap my fingers and have all the world's religions disappear, that isn't going to happen. same with banning a religion or oppressing people of a certain religion - no good can come of it.

so what's the purpose in honing in on islam? then there's the correlation between the posters that blame islam and also refuse to acknowledge that we have waaaaayyyy too much gun violence in this country. have you noticed that pattern? i have and i wonder why its rational to apply blame for terror attacks to an entire religion but then refuse to blame our staggering rates of gun violence on the ease of access and insane number of guns in this country.

i just don't see where you get that the argument was 'either you're outraged about paris or outraged about gun violence' - i see it completely differently.

I do agree that if the far religious right had complete control of the country we would have similar issues here

..when it comes to the christian religious right i am most concerned about their desire to get on with end days. isn't end days supposed to uh kick off with the 'big one' - east vs west? christians vs muslims? maybe that was just my crazy childhood church.
