He probably will be eventually, but they have protocol to follow. I hope he gets charged with at minimum, excessive force. Hopefully they can bring greater charges against him as well, maybe man slaughter or some type of murder charge.

He wasn't going to be fired because they planned to hold on to the video until the judge made them release it. Then they had no choice.

I would lean towards an attempted cover up if the city hadn't settled with the victim's family for $5 million within months. This cop was going down no matter what once the settlement was made. Again, it's the Police union, if you know anything about how they operate, you'll know they're basically teflon, it's very hard to make anything stick on them without solid evidence.

ETA: And even with solid evidence against a member of the Police union, they have the ability to drag the proceedings out for a long time, which may explain the delay in the charges.

Yep, Cops can be the worst law breakers at times.

According to NBC News Chicago, 86 minutes of security video was missing after the shooting, after police ran through and reviewed it but before any official investigation had been opened, and Burger King has confirmed that it was deleted by police reviewing the video.

At least in this case, the family is going to get compensation for this heinous action. Granted it won't bring their son back, but by charging the cop and paying the family, it's a start...

We were told many times here, that we should not be outraged by the deaths in France at the hands of the Muslim terrorists, becuse there are more gun deaths here.

Using the same logic, how can you be outraged at the death of one black kid by a cop in Chicago, when many hundreds of black kids are killed every year in Chicago by other blacks.

Seems like we should be putting all this energy into to stopping black on black murders in Chicago.

You're right. But let's be real, how many people really care about black on black murders? If folks cared that much, the money and outpouring of support would go to the cities that deal with this every day. We support Paris, but tell Americans to clean up their mess.

I'm outraged at any loss of human life. They don't need to be black for me to care.

Bottom line, folks are okay with the murder rate as long as it stays within urban communities.

that's putting a bit of a slant on things. just because someone is of the mindset that the vast majority of muslims on this planet are not terrorists, in no way shape or form does that mean we shouldn't be outraged by the loss of innocent life - anywhere, by anyone.

You admitted I am right. Now we can close the thread and let me gloat ?

as long as you know, the flawed logic you're pointing out isn't actually anyone's logic here, not that i've seen anyway.

Oh no. Your kidding right. Look back at the Paris thread. Many many post pointing out the fact, that how could we be outraged about Islamic terrorism when gun violacne was such a problem in this country.

I think the inclination was how can we talk about refusing refugees based on this event when gun violence envelopes this country but we refuse to deny gun ownership or implement any type of gun control that would affect the majority?

What happened in Paris was horrible, but to start asking Muslims to register based on religious faith is unconstitutional. Not to mention just flat out bigoted.

Actually, they don't show the men trying to clean up Chicago and mediate with gangs. Not good news headlines.

By your sane logic, if a white kid was murdered, no one should be upset because white teenagers aND men go on mass shooting sprees, yes?
