My K-1 wife and I are wondering if she should have her Russian passport re-issued with a name change to her new married name. The concern is that in future travel, the existence of 2 different names on various documents, including airline tickets, may cause problems.

If you plan to travel you should do this. I don't know what the Russian procedures are but for my wife it was done through the Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C.

She can renew her passport to their Embassy to carry her married name. Marriage certificate and her GC was a proof that she's entitle to change her passport from her maiden name to married name.

Changing your wife's passport to her married name will not present any problems. The only name changes that seem to cause problems are changes to the first or middle names. When I re-inserted my middle name, which had been taken out of my passport many years earlier, the consulate where I had my K3 visa interview (South Africa) insisted on having my name check redone somewhere in the United States. They did say to me though, that if I had only changed my last name to my married name, it would have been quite alright as I am entitled to do that because of being married.
