Supervisor Octavio?

Good evening everyone. I've had a long stressful day. Was told my AOS/IV package was missing docs. So I kept calling NVC today until I was able to connect with a Supervisor Octavio. He said he would pull my file and review it himself. My question is has anyone had any experience with this supervisor???? I'm really hoping he will take care of this right away, but all he would guarantee was the 42 days. I'm still sending in docs they claim are missing tomorrow just because I know one way may be faster than the other.

- Moved from IR-1/CR-1 Process to National Visa Center forum as question is very specific to NVC -

Eighteen years in the US and I still don't understand Velveeta, TV ads for prescription drugs, only getting 2 weeks paid vacation, or why anyone believes anything they see on Fox "News".

I don't have experience from Octavio but I do have of supervisor review and it's a gamble, it can be done within the 42 days or it can't drag on for months and months. Just remember that if you send in those missing documents, the review clock will start at that time. So if NVC receive your documents on e.g. November 30th, that's when the 42 day review clock will start.

Are you sure you sent in those documents NVC says is missing? If I were you, I think I'd just send in those documents NVC says they don't have and just hope for the best. If it's one thing I learned during our eight month NVC experience, it is to just send them what they ask for. Good luck.

I sent the "missing docs" this morning... I was told that those docs would be under the 30 day review period not the 42 day supervisor review period. and whichever one happens first will complete the case. I confirmed with 3 different reps about what they claim is missing, so I'm sure I sent in the correct ones. I'm really hoping Octavio will be able to review my file sooner rather than later and complete case. Today when I called in the rep stated that he has already requested file be sent to him. I don't understand why if he's reviewing something directly it would still be under the 42 day stipulation. This whole situation has made me very anxious and I will probably call again tonight until I get to speak with another supervisor. I'm being penalized for their mistake, I'm 100% sure that all docs are there now it's just a question of when will someone review it to verify what I already know. Frustrated is not a strong enough word for what I feel now.

They received our documents on June 29th and three days later, a supervisor requested our file. After three months, that supervisor still hadn't reviewed our file and our Senator got involved. I hope you belong to the lucky ones who get reviewed within the 42 day timeframe. And if you're on supervisor review, the supervisor will request those documents you sent NVC, they will belong to Ocativo's review of your entire case.

Hi Mallafri76, were you in supervisor review before you sent the documents or after? I once again called last night and was told by a very nice rep who verified with a supervisor while I was on hold that the DR department will review any new docs sent in but the docs that are already there will be reviewed by Octavio. And whichever is able to confirm that docs are indeed the ones that were listed as missing on will be able to compete case... I'm hoping that this is the case.

If you don't mind me asking why was your case put into supervisor review?

We responded to the checklist of a new i-864, but because we also got a checklist for a missing DS-260 (even though it had been filled out months earlier), we called NVC to ask about that DS-260. When the NVC rep heard that my DS-260 still hadn't been reviewed after 60 days, she put our case on supervisor review. A few days later, NVC received our response to the checklist. So yeah, I guess we were put on supervisor review before they received our documents.

We were told by multiple NVC reps that our entire case went to the supervisor and if we sent in more documents, that would cause a delay as the supervisor would then have to request those documents as well. Honestly, I don't believe a word these NVC reps say and I don't think that NVC has particularly good procedures or are good at following them, as cases don't seem to follow the same flow or be reviewed in similar ways. NVC is all about doing what you think is needed, then crossing your fingers and praying for the best and if you're lucky, you pass through NVC easily, if you're unlucky, you have to fight your way through. :(NVC can be one crazy ride. :(

I was under supervisor review for 2 days, supervisor justin reviewed my files and the next day, it was already case complete. I think NVC takes time when you have checklist. Good luck!

Hi Myao, wow that's awesome and gives me some hope of things moving a bit faster than either the 30 or 42 day time frame I've been given... why did you case go to supervisor review?

Hi Anf2014,

Our 30 day review period was over and the agent I last talked to escalated our case to a supervisor. We were under supervisor review for only 2 days so I think, it's not bad after all.

As of today still no updates from Supervisor Octavio, called in on Monday and was told by a rep that she spoke to him while I was on hold and he told her that he was reviewing my file and should have it updated shortly. That was Monday and it's not Thursday and still no updates. I did confirm last night that they received the docs that I recent and got an email this morning confirming that they are working on my docs and to allow 30 days. I really hope that Octavio will update my case soon as he stated he would, I hate the thought of waiting even a day longer of an issue that wasn't my fault. But maybe this whole thing is just a test in patience and faith. I'm definitely failing on the patience part but I have faith that my husband will be here soon and we will be stronger after having to go through this...

If anyone has had an experience with Supervisor review would love to hear about them, it really helps those of us that are going through it.

Thanks, :)

did you got a checklist?

when i spoke to supervisor justin, he told me something like this "what happens is that, two department checks your papers. when the other one is done, it passes the papers to the other one." also there could be some kind of que in putting a case complete remarks on the documents. He told us something like this "you got no checklist and the other department has to check your papers to see if this is complete... but there you go, this would be finish earlier than later." the following morning, our case got complete. it has been a week now and still havent got any email confirmation tho, only email confirmation when i contacted nvc.

hope this helps!

Hi Myao, yes that definitely helps and also confirms what the NVC reps have been telling me that two departments are able to review docs. I did get a checklist via email on Monday stating what I already knew that they were missing BC. ML, PC, and Passport copy. All of which were included with my original AOS and Civil Documents package. Supervisor Octavio is reviewing my file to verify that they indeed were there but just in case I resent the docs to save time in the event they got lost at the NVC office. So right now I'm waiting for either Octavio to update the system that all docs are accounted for and complete my case or for the DR department to review resent docs and confirm that they now have the docs that were missing. I've been told that whichever happens sooner will complete my case and move us on to the next step of waiting for interview. I pray everyday that today will be the day that I get a case complete.

The wait for interview in Jamaica is pretty significant I've seen an average of 2-4 month wait once cc is given. So that's why I want this process to complete at NVC so that we don't get further and further behind and still having that 2-4 month wait for interview is frustrating in it self.

Thanks again for sharing your insight!

I guess I just hopped on this train too...

Over 35 days have passed since my scan date and nothing. So, a few hours ago I called NVC to get an update on my case: the rep said my case has not been reviewed yet so she put us on Supervisor Review and told us that there is a time frame of 45 days. She noticed we were in shock, and said "I know 45 days sounds like a long time, but this doesn't mean it will take 45 days, this is just the time frame we are supposed to give out"

Still... I've read so many horror stories about this "Supervisor Review" .

So sad... 45 days... really???
