Hi All,

I applied for K1 visa for my fiance early November 2015. I am a little anxious because I heard that the US Consulate in HCMC is notorious difficult. I reviewed the data from this website and I concluded that 76% got approved the first time. Of those who got denied the first time, hope that the majoriy of them pass the second around. I used the link below to compile the data.

http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1list.php?op6=California+Service+Center&op66=Not+Transfered&op7=Vietnam&op1=&op2=&op3=1&op4=1&op5=5%2C6%2C8%2C10%2C11%2C13%2C14%2C15%2C16%2C17%2C18%2C20%2C21%2C22%2C25%2C26%2C27%2C28%2C108%2C110%2C111%2C208%2C210%2C211&cfl=

I only use the data of those who UPDATED their case AFTER the interview date. A asterisk "*" indicates APPROVAL and a profile update after the interview date is deemed DENIED without the asterisk "*". Profiles without updates after the interview date are ignored. I only went through roughly the first 100 profiles.

Here are the data:

54 got approved

17 got denied (assume that these people will have a second interview but there should be some outright denials)

So 54 over 71 = 76%

Keep in mind that it only represents a tiny percentage of actual K1 applications.

There was a thread on VJ about a year ago that stated the % of K1 denials in VN is actually 71% (or higher). You will have to search for that thread. I will post it if I run across it again.

So the "K1 Fiance Visa Timelines" data is not representative of the average K1 case for sponsoring fiance in Vietnam? Is it representative of VisaJourney members or not even that?

Keep in mind that it only represents a tiny percentage of actual K1 applications.

I wouldnt worry about denial if you are real. Gather all the documents, worse case is it will get delay a bit

May 12, 2014 - Case recieved at Chicago, IL.

May 13, 2014 - Case accepted. Received LIN#. Case forwarded to USCIS, Nebraska. i-797 hard copy received shortly after.

Yes, our relationship is genuine. However, I am an anxious person. I am a single father of a 3 year old girl. My complication is that I had previously sponsored a wife (spousal visa) in 2002 and she came to the US in 2003. We were divorced in 2009 with no children. In 2012 I remarried to a US citizen and we had a child. But we ended up divorce in 2014 because of my ex's personal issues and I have main custody of my child.

I met my fiance twice already, in Dec 2014 and June 2015, and planning a third meeting this December. I filed my petition in Nov 2015 so I hope she will have her interview some time in March to May of 2016. I will travel to Vietnam with my father in Dec 2015 to have an engagement party. After that we (I, my fiance and my father) will travel to Malaysia, Singapore, and then my hometown for 9 days and I plan to take many pictures to prove it. She will bring the evidence of the engagement party and traveling together to the interview. I already submitted evidence of us traveling together to Da Nang, Hoi An, and Halong bay during our second meeting.

I wouldn't worry about it about they being hard. Make sure you let her know everything about your relationship and you have the documents to back that up. My experience about VN was a breeze, just takes time if you don't give them coffee money.

I agree if you are legit I think these folks know what they are doing. It would be more interesting to see what happens after some people dont make the first pass. But being anxious is not going to help and certainly not going to change anything. You opted to arbitrarily stop at the first 100 profiles. what about the balance...etc? Focus on what you CAN do and supporting your case.
