AP Questions...

Hi...Just a couple of quick questions. I recently got married to my Pakistani man. He is getting marriage certificates translated, etc., and I will be filing for the CR1 as soon as I receive his papers.

1. How long is typical AP from there? What is longest that you know of from there or anywhere else? Have you ever heard of a Pakistani man NOT getting AP? We are an older couple, so I wonder if I will not be dead with old age by the time he gets his visa...sigh

2. If a person is in AP, does the CR1 ever expire? If not, then a person could be in AP forever, theoretically. Must the USC stay in constant contact with USIC? Do they just leave the person hanging without any updates?

3. What are the chances of getting a visitor or tourist visa from Pakistan while the CR1 is ongoing? (I'm thinking ice berg's chance in hell.....)

Thanks for the info!!!

Hi, I am keeping an eye on your question 1 myself but it seems like, at least here on this site, most of them have been getting their visas fairly soon after their approval at interview. There are some that are waiting a long time though.

We didn't even try to get a visitor visa for him as I assumed it was useless. I have just been visiting there. But I don't think it hurts anything but your pocket book to give it a try.

Hi tsabbas...I see you filed a year ago, and your papers have not even gotten to the embassy. So sad that this takes a ridiculous amount of time....Did you send in your original untranslated marriage certificate along WITH the translated one?

Yeah, but the delay was mostly due to the fact that TSC sent it to the local field office for interview and it took them many months for it to get scheduled. I'm still not sure why that happened but I think it was due to some administrative mistake in thinking that he was already here. If it hadn't been for that, I think we would be done with the process now.

I only sent in the Nadra certificate with the I-130. When I went to the interview I took the original Urdu one and the English attested translation also and they took them for the file but said they were only needed at the Embassy interview. I never got an RFE for them or anything.

1. Once visa is approved all the cases go through 'AP'. Algorithm of AP is designed and developed with certain 'IF' then 'ELSE' loops. Most female approved candidates 'AP' is local to Pakistan's embassy from printing visa to deliver to candidates and similar is the case for male older than 45 year of age, but men over 45 still process through this program and if candidate has some history of applying for US visa and rejection in recent past then 'AP' move further to 31 US agencies and once it all clear from them then embassy will contact the candidate to pick up the visa. If AP is escalated to go to US for a review from all the agencies then this a physical process means a physical file move from one agency to another and then physically reach Pakistan. There are two criteria for male candidate younger then 45 and the first one is if the algorithm picked up the candidate from his past then case will transfer to US for the AP processing OR there is a random pick up in which approved cases of male under 45 without any past history of circumventing US immigration laws or trying to enter US will picked up randomly.

Majority of Pakistani male candidate get their visa within two weeks of the approval. Less than 2% go through rigorous AP. In this past there were cases when subjects befriended with American girls and get engaged or get married only to enter US and their primary motive was something else. There were zero such cases in Pakistan but in some other country of interest but this process is for all the countries that we called 'Country of Interest'.

2. CR1 don't expire if it is in processing. It only expires if no actions were taken by the petitioner or the beneficiary in a timely manner during the process of reply once embassy or NVC expect you to reply within a time fram.

3. No chance for a visitor or any other kind of visa during CR1 processing

You mentioned you are an elderly couple and if your husband has clean past with no history of trying to enter US such as visa rejection, illegally entering US or any other country or a history of over staying visa in US or in any other country then he will be able to get the visa real fast.
