Medical??

Hello,

I have got the packet 3 and it does not say when should I have my medical done. It says closer to interview but I don't have the interview date yet. I have collected all the documents that they required and I am sending back the checklist to them but I don't know what to do with the medical and from where to get the medical date?? Please advise.

After you send the P3, they will send you the P4. In the P4 there will be more information about the medical icluding an updated list of approved doctors and the website where you will be registering yourself to book your interview date and paying the IV fees. You can book your medical at any time from the list of doctors provided, but it is advised to book around two to three weeks before your interview, therefore you should make sure you have an interview date before you book your medical.

So in short; wait for the P4, register and pay your visa fees on the website, book an interview date, then book your medical by contacting one of the doctors on the list.

The closer to the interview date you choose to have the medical, the better. This is because the visa expires 6 months from the MEDICAL date, not the interview or issuance date. So if you want some more time to plan a wedding, finish up work, sell property, etc... you have more time in which to do so.

For instance, my medical was the week before my interview. I got the results back on Friday and my interview was Monday morning. Granted it only took a day to get my visa back, but for some people it can take a month or two. Especially if you have to send something back to them that you forgot. You do not want to push this date if possible.

Remember you only have 90 days to get married and for some of us, that's a bucket load of time to plan a little wedding (or civil ceremony) but it isn't a lot of time if you want a larger wedding or reception and only want to do 1 wedding, not 2.

Some medical places will ask for your interview appointment to confirm you actually have an appointment before scheduling you. They did this at Dr. Zatzman's with my fiance.

Schedule your interview first, then medical.

My fiance did his medical about a month a head of time. He had his medical on August 18th, but he didn't get the results back until August 28th. Some places seem to go faster if they know your interviews closer and will work with you.
