Whoa, slow down girl.

You just sent the AOS and you expect the NOA1 the next day? First off, the lock box is in Chicago. They look over the papers, the checks and send them to the NBC in Missouri. You will likely get a notice in two weeks of the receipt in Chicago.

As to the problem with your mail. You need to speak with the postmaster in your area to voice your concerns. Despite what we think about the P.O. they do take it serious about people not getting their mail.

Whoa, please read what I posted. I said CLEARLY in the first post, I am not expecting anything yet. And further down, I even said it again, and that I'm just being proactive and prepared. I know it takes 2 weeks to a month, which would be why I said those things that you obviously didn't read.

My question involved how I would know if I never received the NOA1. Since that's where I would get his case number, and we've had issues with not receiving our mail because the address is so long, the apt # gets left off quite frequently.

So before hauling off and telling me to slow down, read the post in its entirety, even the parts where I say I'm not expecting anything yet. This was not a WHERE IS MY NOA1 question, but a "what happens if it's undeliverable...?" question. Two different things.

The name is already inside. I had misread it as OUTSIDE (someone else had said put it outside...and that was what isn't allowed, because the mail person doesn't even have access to that side of the mail boxes - the key or whatever they have only allows them access to the backside).

But as I've said, I'm not asking how to make it deliverable, as I've done all those things - but what happens if it isn't delivered, how will I ever know, etc. Obviously no one knows, so I'm going to let it rest.

I am sorry but if having my name on my mailbox ment that I got my mail from USCIS then the condo rules can go to hell....

ROFLMAO!

It's funny but yeah...I wholeheartedly agree with Kez.

Jane's idea is a good one. Do it.

I don't think anyone understands my question :( I've done everything to prevent it from being undeliverable, but with as many problems as I've had, I thought someone might know what to do in the case we never receive anything. Oh well, I'll just hope we get it.

As I've said before, I understand your question. Believe me. However, I think hope is your best option as far as the answer to your specific concern.

Everyone here is just trying to help. Honestly, the best thing you can do right now is try to relax. Unless you want to get proactive and go down to the post office and talk to someone about why you keep getting undeliverable mail (or figure out when the mailman comes and hang around outside the mail room to talk to them), relaxing is the only thing you can do. I see this is your first experience with USCIS, it's definitely scary and overwhelming, and I know it's hard to do but you will go crazy before the end of this process if you start stressing over the uncontrollable things or the "what ifs".

IF after a month or more you don't get your NOA's, you can call the customer service line or make an infopass appointment at your local office.

I am a worrier  about everything ... I feel if I don't have something to freak out over, I won't be prepared for it and then it'll be even worse. I keep sane by stressing, I think.

Generally, the mail isn't delivered because my address is so long. A lot of times the mailperson will try to match the name up even if the apt # gets deleted (which was the situation) but my last name was different then, so that didn't work. (And I'd have to skip work to talk to the mailperson, which I'm not going to do. :hehe::lol: )

Can I make an infopass without a case #? :o That's what I'm worried about, that without the case number, I won't be able to do/find out anything.

I know everyone is trying to help but I've done everything they suggested so it was more what happens if those things don't work  I know it's a bit nuts but I am just trying to be prepared. Thanks! :)

Nope, sent money orders.

I've NEVER seen the mail person, and it's my understanding that they will not deliver to a PO Box, it needs to be a residential address or I would have gotten a PO box just for this purpose.

It'll probably be fine, but I've had so many problems getting my mail for a bunch of reasons that I'm scared that it'll happen with this :x it's too soon to tell, obviously but I'm being proactive.

Maybe you should try talking to the mail person...or getting a PO BOX.

If you sent a personal check, you can get your case number off the back of the endorsement...once it is cashed. Good luck

Sorry if this has been covered already, I didn't have time to read every post but, who told you that they won't deliver to a Post Office box? The same thing happened to us. Our mail is very unreliable and the RFE they sent to us was returned as undeliverable. When I called USCIS he said, "What we usually do is suggest you open a Post Office box." I would have done that, but, where we live, it would have taken 3 weeks to do it, so I changed our mailing address to the address of my parents to be sure everything would be delivered. If you have someone you can trust, it's an option.

Sorry, I posted and then realized someone had already said what I was going to say. In the case that you don't receive something within a certain time frame (you can look for that on the USCIS website) there is recourse.
