Lost Packet 3 in Jordan :(

For those going through Amman, I need your opinion. Initially my fiance gave the home address (not the PO Box) for the embassy to mail his packet 3. With those of you familiar you'll know a house/apartment address is not like here. It's just a street and suburb. I questioned him a thousand times but he said it was the best one. Then after the embassy mailed our packet last Thursday, he realized he should have used the PO Box. We haven't received the packet and when I emailed to ask for another one they said all info can be printed from the website. Luckily one of the dear members sent me a copy of their S/O's packet (thank you again "J"), so at least we have a guide. I would rather him get the official packet from the embassy though.

So my question is has anyone else had a similar problem and if so, did the embassy send another packet or did you just print the forms? I know I"m being a worry wart, but better safe than sorry.

I don't know about Jordan but wouldn't the courier call before delivering the packet 3? That's what they do in Egypt. TNT called my husband to make sure they were delivering to the correct address.

I don't know what courier they use. I thought they would, but my fiance never received any phone calls. I have no idea how the mail system works over there. Any time we needed to send things we sent with family/friends or I took care of it when I was there.

I just told the embassy to send the packet to me here in the U.S. then I scanned everything and emailed it to my fiance.....I just don't trust the mail anywhere - not even here! But I just went through everything I received in packet 3 and it looks like you should be ok without the actual packet. The only "personalized" paperwork that came with our packet 3 was the Medical exam sheet....it had my fiance's name and our case number printed on it along with the Amman Embassy seal. But I still think your fiance won't have any problems getting a medical exam done without this document. I recommend the Palestine Hospital in Amman...that is where my fiance had his done at and I think he totally forgot to bring the paper with him...he just told them he is applying for a K-1 visa to the U.S. and needs a physical exam. I'd be happy to show you our paperwork and checklist if you'd like....let me know. Good luck.

Sorry about that Prena,but as Moody said, The Cairo courier guy called my fiance before they dropped off the packet. Maybe if your fiance hasn't been called,it hasn't been delivered yet. Further my fiance said that the forms he actually needs to send back to the embassy are to be downloaded from their website. The only thing enclosed I think was the I-134 and I have to send that. So you can probably be OK if you missed the packet.

They emailed us our interview date/appt so he can print and use that to get in.

Mandolin, I'll let you know if I have any questions. Going to start gathering everything now. We have 2 months, but rather ahead of schedule than behind!

Mine was supposed to go to my husband's PO at the University.. but it came to me! It was mailed October 9 and I received it, by accident and completely unaware of any sending on November 27! So they could have done the same thing to you!

thanks Julianna, we'll have to wait it out and see I did email them 2 days later with his PO Box number but since it's K1 I think they would send to him. I'll wait until next week to email them again.

This happened to some other members processing through Jordan -- had them tearing their hair out.

Their SOs were able to go to the consulate in person and pick up a duplicate packet.

thanks wom for that info, my fiance was going to try to go there this week, but he didn't think they would let him in. i told him to print and take a copy of the emial they sent us with the interview date as proof that he was being processed

My husband went to the medical exam as I had his package and all they asked for was the case number. Hopes this helps.

Oh the packet nightmare! I waited 6 weeks for the packet. I was in Jordan after the K3 approval and went to the embassy 2 times and each time they said they can't give me one, I must wait to get it in the mail. We also had one sent to my husband in Zarqa, he never got it after the embassy swore they sent it to him and showed the address they sent it to. He never got it and my attorney received both of them. ??? The aggravating part is the case number is placed on the medical sheet. Not sure if you can by pass this and get a copy from someone who has saved their in the computer, etc.

Thanks Ladies, he actually completed his medical this week (still no packet yet), but I'd given him the case number already and it was noted on his medical papers. I'm doing the DS forms this weekend with him and then I'll send all my stuff monday am and we're all set. Just waiting out now for the interview. A buddy from VJ scanned and emailed me a copy of their packet so we had a great guide to follow.

I really appreciate the responses. Will keep you posted when our day comes

Yes he has everything done on his part. Just I think he needs to get the passports pics. We completed the DS 156, 156k, 157 and 230 forms tonite. I will send that with my I134/financial proof and relationship proof on Monday. By next friday we'll be ready for the interview. Too bad we'll still have a 6 1/2 week wait . Who knows maybe the embassy will push it up a few weeks, so we're ready just in case.
