Hi. I have been programed for interview...

Hi. I have been programed for interview for the dv lottery visa for the beginning of january but my marital status has changed since I found out about being selected( may) . I got married to my long term boyfriend and also had a baby , born end july . I need to put them on the application but I've been told at KCC that they can't do that anymore because the case was sent to the consulate in Paris . Also I will need to postpone the interview because due to marriage an the name change I will not be able to get my document ready in time . Please help me with the next step to approach

It's a pity you didn't update your DS forms back when the family changes happened. Sometimes postponing an interview can be a problem, this is very dependent on which embassy it is. I'd suggest that your next step is to contact the embassy in Paris and explain your situation - it should be possible for them to update your forms at the interview, but you'd need to arrange this in advance as (1) they might not allow your family members in without them named on your forms already if you don't arrange it and (2) they normally need an interview letter to get medical appointments anyway (without which they cannot get visas). So the consulate may either (1) give you a letter allowing you to attend the interview with them (2) tell you to attend the interview without them and give them visas later once all the forms are done, or (3) postpone the interview until you can get it all done first. They will be best placed to tell you which one works best for Paris.

Interesting as I had my passport with my married name in my hands in two weeks - can't possibly take that much longer to get the passport in Paris. Also, no where does it say you have to change your last name after marriage.

I'd reconsider rescheduling appointment as these days it's not a given you will be scheduled for another interview before end of September.

The passports were expired and it takes ages to renew . We dont live in France we were just sent there from Portugal because us embassy in lisbon doesn't deal with dv lotery.

What will it happen if we show there without all the dcuments?

Repeat. Contact the embassy. They are the only ones who can give you the info you need now.

If you go without all the docs you will be put on AP pending showing them. Some embassies have a maximum time frame for this so, again, you need to talk to Paris to find out their specific opinion.

Thank you for the previous replies.

It is almost impossible to contact them over the phone so I will try the email method. I just need help formulating the email , I understand that they are not fans of long stories.

Also another question: I saw this on official state site:

" The following item is required for all visa types (including family-based and diversity visas), except employment-based visas:  Evidence of support - Form 1-864, Affidavit of Support: Your petitioning relative in the United States must complete Form I-864, Affidavit of Support (and, if applicable, form I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member) on your behalf and provide supporting evidence proving that you and members of your family who immigrate to the U.S. are not likely to become public charges in the United States.

But what is the dv winner doesn't have any relatives in us?

Thank you

Even if DV winners need an affidavit of support (some not all do) it is I134 not I864 that is needed, so ignore that. You should have some form of proof that you won't be a public charge. What that proof is will depend on your age, qualifications etc.

Hi ,

I have contacted the embassy but it looks like they don't have the case yet although ,after 4 phone calls , the KCC clearly specifies that is not longer with them .

Anyone have any idea on how long this delay between the two systems can take? I really need my husband and son on file especially because of the medicals. ( the clinic only deals with already scheduled people)

thank you
