http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/nov/20/saudi-court-sentences-poet-to-death-for-renouncing-islam

A Saudi court on Tuesday ordered the execution of Ashraf Fayadh, who has curated art shows in Jeddah and at the Venice Biennale. The poet, who said he did not have legal representation, was given 30 days to appeal against the ruling.

Fayadh, 35, a key member of the British-Saudi art organisation Edge of Arabia, was originally sentenced to four years in prison and 800 lashes by the general court in Abha, a city in the south-west of the ultraconservative kingdom, in May 2014.

But after his appeal was dismissed he was retried last month and a new panel of judges ruled that his repentance did not prevent his execution.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

How is it xenophobic fear mongering when the House of Saud has routinely executed people for expressing their personal beliefs? What about basic human rights? Should a person be executed for not believing in a religion that he had no choice of being born into?

Well, some regulars of CEHST forum are saying that there are too many negative topics on Islam, which kinda generate hate towards Islam.

It is not good on VJ since there are immigrants coming from those Islamic countries.

Boiler, i think this is a great example of laws being enforced.

Sure, it's in Saudi Arabia (which no one cares about) and

It's concerning some religious thing (which no one cares about)

So what's the hindsight?

If'n he truly wanted to be an apostate,

He should have married an italien in italy when he was in Venice, and never leave the city.

Apostates - kittens

Choice is hardly an issue to some.

Islamaphobia is wrong. The bad acts of a few is not reflective of the whole.

I support relocating Syrian refugees to the US. It's a matter of basic humanity.

If I was a terrorist like those in Paris with European passports, it would be much easier to enter the US on the VWP than to sneak someone in as a refugee who has to be scrutinized and wait for 2 years to be relocated to the US.

I do not support dictators acting under religious laws to execute people for not believing the same things they do.

There is nothing inconsistent about protecting and helping humanity. One can support Muslims and despise Islamaphobia and condemn the actions of dictators who pervert Islam for their own ends.

I see no difference between Daesh and the House of Saud. The beheadings. The punishment for not believing in Allah. Treating women as lesser human beings. The only difference is that the House of Saud supplies the world with cheap oil which keeps people quiet.

I would hope that the immigrants coming from Islamic countries embraces plurality and condemn the execution of people who choose to not believe.

I don't believe that we should ignore the acts of the House of Saud just because we don't want to post more negative topics on Islam. Just like not all Muslims are bad, not all articles about Islam are bad. Sometimes, the world needs to know when Islamist extremists behave badly. Pretty sure those that are oppressed would want the world to know how poorly they are being treated by those that pervert Islam for their own ends.

Maybe America should get out of Saudi then. Can't help our legitimacy around the world to be propping up regimes like this.
