orginal copy of translations to the NVC? (split topic)

If your interview is in Pakistan, you don't need an English translation of any civil documents, as long as they are in the local language. An acceptable translation of your marriage certificate would have already been submitted with the I-130 or it would never have been approved.

Hi, pushbrk. First off, thanks so much for all your replies...I've been lurking on VJ for over a year now doing my research and you have been very helpful, consistently providing good advice and correcting people when they're not clear in describing their course of action in English!

I finally decided to join in the discussion and will eventually set up a signature with a record of my experience sponsoring my wife from Pakistan. We're at the NVC stage and I'm about to submit all my supporting documents to the NVC.

I also have a question about the original vs. photocopy of translations debate. I have read others' experiences sending a photocopy of the translation document (of MC and BC) to the NVC (as with the I-130 initial application), and everything worked out fine. I only obtained one copy of each translation, and I'm entitled to a free second copy, according to the translator, so I'll definitely be taking advantage of that.

I was confused because the new process at the NVC (since Nov/14) was to send photocopies of all documents and bring originals to your interview, but I also read a conflicting message on a USCIS site that indicated originals are always required for translations (link here, but I noticed this link is in the "E-filing" section so it may not be relevant to me)...I guess to be on the safe side I'll just send the originals since I can get the second copy for free.

Thanks for reading, and I welcome any comments on any part of the above! :)
