How did you prepare before leaving for the US?

For months and months, I have only been thinking/dreading the medical and interview and leaving hasn't really sank-in. While it did cross my mind everyday, I can't seem to grasp the feeling of finally leaving.

Well, now that I am only waiting for my passport and packet, it finally sank-in that I am leaving and can't seem to gather my thoughts on leaving.

How did you prepare both emotionally and for the things that will be needed for the new life in the US?

I did my moving checklist when we hit NVC. It has everything I need to do before I move as well as what I need to prepare for the move. I have also already downloaded all the forms I need, e.g. application for a drive's license.

The thought of moving sunk in when I got the packet. I filed for resignation from my job (1 month effective) and just spent the remaining 1.5 month/s with my gf and 2 children. It was pretty hard leaving my 3 yo daughter and 7 mos son.

What I did do are meet all my friends 1st just stay there at 2 days or 3 days to be prepared and to feel that I'm not staying at the house anymore then after that I did focus to do a lot of bonding moments with my family so if you go to the u.s you will have a lot of memories being with them and ofcourse don't forget to make a skype account so if ever that you are already here at the u.s you will still feel that your with them by using that everyday ...and if u feel homesick just search for Filipino community then sign up there so u will meet a lot of Filipino's then :)

And my tip for you is buy clothes there that you know that u can use here at the u.s since mostly the clothes that are using

are really different because of the weather .. and more cheaper there .. hehe

And Last Just be brave and just feel like your still at the Philippines just do the things that you are doing before so you

will be comfortable then

Goodluck and Godbless
