Just got off the phone with the NVC after waiting 23 min for them to answer. They received our papers the 16th Nov but still no case number. Same saying to wait 42 days. I guess just keep calling and calling every second day till they give you a case number.

I am still getting the same recording..Tomorrow I am calling the NVC super early

I just called NVC for the first time ever. It took me 4 tries back to back to bypass that stupid recording. Then I was on hold for 40 mins, and they told me my case is not even in the system yet. Couldn't confirm they even received it. The rep asked for my receipt number twice to make sure it was correct, and said it can take up to "42" days, but usally it is a lot faster. Tomorrow will be 14 days since approval. I guess I will try calling friday lol. I want to at least know they have my case, this rep couldn't even confirm that, now I will worry haha.

When you call NVC do you hit a certain number, like press one for ... or two for...? I had no idea which to press so I just hit the button for other and waited 40 mins on hold to be told they couldn't even find my receipt number in the system yet.

Suggestion to getting through to NVC. I have been following on Facebook and here and some have suggested to call the number for non-immigrant. They say they get right through.

Thank you, that's exactly what I did. I will try again Monday and hopefully NVC will at least be able to tell me they received our case!

My NVC receive date is Nov 10 but still nothing in terms of Case #. I called them Friday and got the standard 45 days.

Our case was approved on Oct 28 so basically went all of November with no movement

Our case was approved October 19, sent to NVC on October 28, but it was not received until November 25.

Now they keep telling me to wait additional "42-45" days for the case number to be assigned, even though we've already waited 37 days for the case to be "received" by NVC! Seriously? Almost 3 months to get a case number?

I know everyone misses their loved ones, but it doesn't seem fair when I see young fiancées and spouses sailing through the system, while our very elderly parent is left behind, waiting much longer than usual.

Hey all,

I am thinking about surprising my husband and flying over to the US for Christmas/NY -- does anyone know if this is possible with the CR1 pending?

NVC have the case, but no case # etc has been allocated yet.

I live in Australia so we have a visa-waiver (ESTA) program with the US so I can travel as a tourist ... just not sure if I will be denied of POE or if I have to apply some other way..

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Since you are in the process of immigration, if at the Port of Entry they asked you why youre here and you told them anything but the truth you might be committing fraud.

The reason they reject most tourist visas while you have immigration pending is because it is too easy to adjust status once youre here. And its the people that came before us that ruined it for the rest of us that would just want to honestly visit.

Well until you get NOA2 you just watch your status online. There's really no need to call USCIS. Texas is about 5 months from NOA1.

We are talking about those approved and on their way to next step NVC.

Usually from VWP or ESTA countries the CBP is pretty cool. But yes its always a gamble and never guaranteed. Especially considering how immigration is getting lately. So just be aware.

Well silly me forgot about Google voice and it works from my laptop. So on hold about 15 to 20 minutes.

And of course she even put me on hold to check how long for case#. But she did say "well we can take up to 42 days. But it doesn't take that long"

She laughed and said call end of next week.

So nice lady. I like her. <3
