PAID him good money, he was paid in full November 20th once we received our NOA2. My husband called him again at 1pm today and some guy answered and told my husband he was just the answering service, tried to ring him but he "must be on the phone".. "but he would email the lawyer his message." #######!! My husband is going to call back again at 4pm. And I will call tomorrow. We are dumb founded as what to do. He has all our documents too, today marks 25 days that he has been MIA with zero contact to our emails or phone calls and FEES STILL NOT PAID! :ranting:

Great to see you Ditdot!! :)

The consensus here seems to be that lawyers, in many cases, are no more than forms processors who are experts in visa process retardation rather than expedition. Once your money is in their hand, the incentive to expedite is lost. Nobody cares more about your business more than you do, and often times legal help seems to be a logical choice to complement your efforts. However, this certainly does not seem to be the case in many instances. Such a shame.

Hallelujah our lawyer FINALLY paid our AOS/IV fees this morning and asked me to send over my verification of employment letter and recent pay stubs (which he will receive within the hour)! That is the last 2 items he needs from me to complete AOS packet. Small victory, but I am so happy to finally be moving again after a 26 day delay!!! I am assuming it will take a few days for fees to change to "paid" before he can fill out forms online? I am running as fast as I can though to catch up to you guys. :joy:

Hey COSMOS I do have a question for you. Isn't your lawyer doing EP? I ask because someone on the NVC filers thread (Florida Bear) for Canada submitted their documents just last thursday and got case complete today.

UPDATE: I have no idea!! I didn't even know we were eligible for EP! Apparently our lawyer isn't the best communicator all of a sudden. All I know is our lawyers email yesterday stated he paid our AOS/IV fees yesterday, emailed us our receipts and the invoice NVC sent him on Dec.18th. He told me:

"Usually takes a couple of days before the payment has cleared to the State Department and until it does they do not allow us to continue with the online application portion. Once we can move forward we will complete as much of it as we can then send you the instructions to log in so you can review things and suggest corrections." "You can drop off your employment letter and pay stubs when you like. If we are not in the office it can be dropped in our mail slot. It is also o.k to scan and email them to me if that is easier for you."

I emailed over my letter and check stubs yesterday to him, but of course I received no response. I did check the fee portal today, it still says "in progress". I will check portal again later. God why wouldn't he inform us of EP?? I bet that could save a TON of time. Errrr..

Yep here's Florida Bear for Canada. Like WOW.

"I called NVC last night and confirmed Case Complete. So yes, within one week of submitting my forms electronically it was done. Maybe we just got lucky as there was no request for an expedite."

OK so from what I am reading people who are having their interview with the Montreal embassy are allowed to file electronically! Since my fees are still in "process" I can't check, but does that mean a portal on the CEAC website will let us know we can file for EP since we have a MTL case number?? Any info would be great, if that is the case I am going to have to blast my lawyer and make sure he knows this. Just want to make sure I have all the facts first before I write him. This would be the best news I heard in almost a month if true!!

Thanks Gobucks! I just emailed my lawyer.. Can't believe I didn't know this was an option until now. Our lawyer better not have any issues with filing our packets online! Our fees just changed to "paid" too, so he has no excuses now! :)

Filing electronically may help you catch up for the time lost. I'm sure you saw the CC for the Canadians in under a week here recently. In hindsight I should have filed that way.
