Hey everyone so i got a message on my ceac status checker saying ready

Your case is ready for you to schedule an interview at the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal. If you have already scheduled an interview appointment, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the Consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at:

My consulate is in montreal and I have not received packet three yet.

Does this mean I should start my DS160 or what ? Im not really sure what steps I should follow ..

Thanks in Advance !!

Hold onto your hat its going to be a bumpy ride!!

but don't worry you'll get through it :luv:

It simply means that Montreal has RECIEVED your case. It usually takes them 4-9 days to log your case, and once they log your case they will send you a snail mail packet 3.

You can do two things, wait another week and then send them an inquiry asking if they have your case yet and it's been logged here: http://canada.usembassy.gov/contact/public-inquiry-form.html

or you can keep waiting for the snail mail packet 3.

Once you know they've logged the case, either by confirming via emails or recieving the snail mail, you can proceed with packet 3 here: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/canada/303578/montreal/Packet3-K1-MTL.pdf

Follow the instructions, do your DS-160, scanned color copy of your passport, check off the check list, scan and email to the email in the pdf file.

It usually takes them anywhere between 10 minutes and 2 days to receieve a packet 4 email back. There is an automated email you can get, this is NOT packet 4. Packet 4 will have instructions telling you how to continue, how to schedule your interview and medical, and what is needed. Keep this email it's very important.

YOU -CAN- CHECK EVERYTHING IN THE CHECKLIST EVEN IF YOU DO NOT HAVE IT CURRENTLY. You simply need to make sure you have the requested documents by your interview. By checking everything off first, you're making the process work faster for you. They do not check the dates of when you recieve them and put two and two together.

Once you have packet 4, it is in the form of an email but here is the pdf version of it. It lists the doctors you can see for medical and all the info you need: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/canada/303578/montreal/Packet4-MTL.pdf

Wish you luck on your journey!
