Hey everyone!

As you can see in the pic below, we put our I-129F submission on a 3 ring binder and we're ready to post it today. My question is, besides the label sticker in front of the binder, do we have to do ANYTHING else with the binder and/or with the cardboard box we're gonna ship it into?

Maybe another label sticker on the outside of the shipping box saying the same thing??

Thank you!

You should put "Original I-129F petition" on the envelope/cardboard box you are putting it in. Did you put a cover letter that also say Original I-129F petition/submission?

Just a heads up, according to their website, the USCIS actually asks you not to use binders..

http://www.uscis.gov/forms/forms-and-fees/general-tips-assembling-applications-mailing

Information under the 6th bullet is where it's stated "Do not use binders or folders that cannot be easily disassembled."

We just used a priority mail envelope. It was much cheaper and you can get ones that will provide you with delivery confirmation.

Paper clips and binders clips only. They will throw out that binder.

Thanks everyone for the response!

The binder is very simple to use. I read that part but the binder I bought I never thought would be considered hard to disassamble. The papers can be easily reached cause they're inside plastic folders attached to the binder.

I got that idea of using the binder from a youtube video.

If I have to get rid of the binder, where should I put the papers instead?????

I'm not sure why you would go with the advice of a youtube video over instructions directly from the USCIS, but alright.

Use binder clips or paper clips as was mentioned above.

And you just left the papers "floating" inside the envelope?

They were all clipped together, I had 2 binder clips on either side of the top of the packet.

The priority envelope that I picked up at the Post Office that day when I mailed it was cardboard, so it was sturdy.

As long as your papers are standard letter size (8.5 x 11) they should fit snugly in the envelope.

Lose the binder and the plastic folders.

Paper clip or small binder clip your sections together and then use a large binder clip or large rubber band to bind them all together.

THAT is the way USCIS wants it to arrive. They will take everything apart and place them into folders at their choosing, then into a large folder (probably an accordian type) and that is then logged and placed into a box.

Don't get over fancy.

I mailed my petition package in a Large USPS Tyvek Priority mailing envelope.

I kept the plastic folders to protect the papers and organise them better into sections.

Gonna use either a heavy clip or a acco fastener to keep the plastic folders together then put everything in a flat priority envelope.

questions:

1) do I still need to label the envelope "129F ORIGINAL SUBMISSION"?

2) what is the fastest way for it to arrive?? Express mail?? Is it worth it?

Thanks!

Yes, on the mailing label.

A day saved in an 8 - 12 months process?

For us what look more organize for them means more work to remove all that stuff, make their life easy and don't use anything, think in all those cases they have to work every single day. Just use a very good envelope, like those ones that have plastic bubble inside. That's it.
