SSN for K1

I read that K1 fiancée are eligible for social security numbers. I also read that I should wait two weeks from date of arrival before going to the social security office to apply. My question is when you apply do they give you the "number" right away? I understand the actual cased takes two weeks in the mail

I applied my SSN a week after arrived. I went to the SSA office and submitted my I-94 copy and show them my passport. The officer at SSA office passed me a letter indicating that it will take around a week or more to mail it to me.

My SSN arrived in exactly 7 business days. Hope that helps. The SSN number wasn't given until I received my mail.

The two week waiting period is no longer necessary since the I-94 became electronic. I was able to pull my I-94 up the day after my arrival and intend to submit my SSN application tomorrow (4 days after arriving).

^^ This. My wife submitted her SSN application the day after she arrived. All we had to do was print out her I-94 online and bring it to the SS office.

Where is it that you do the i-94, my fiance came 4 days ago was that something he did at POE and just didn't realize it? If so how do you print it out?
