My understanding is that you can not apply for a tourist visa while you have a immigrate visa in process. I may be wrong, and I have asked the same question. That is why we got the tourist visa before we got married. But I am sure they will take your hard earned money and a application just to deny you...

Your understanding is wrong. You can apply, you're just very unlikely to get approved - doubly so from a high-fraud country like Jamaica.

Jamaica is not a high fraud country. Why do people keep erroneously saying that?

My dear, it is extremely unlikely that your beneficiary would get any kind of visitors visa whilst going through the immigration process. People will tell you that you can apply and this is true. Legally you can. Our government will happily accept your application and your money but you would have a better chance winning a million dollar jackpot than getting a B visa. That's just straight talk. My soon to be brother in law was able to get a visitors visa in Jamaica to attend his mother's funeral in the US but my fiancé who had a then pending K1 visa was denied a visa. You could try meeting in Jamaica or another Caribbean country that doesn't require a visa on his part. Sorry hon. I'm trying to save you a few coins :-(
