E3 Visa Stuck in 221g Administrative Processing

I had my interview in the Sydney consulate on November 4th and there was a slight discrepancy between my offer letter and the LCA document supplied by my company, so they gave me a 221g refusal form saying that I needed to supply a new document from my employer via email. They kept my passport, which obviously was a good sign as they only need this updated document to process to visa, but...

Everything I have read says that now that I am in administrative processing I could be stuck there for 60 days! Does anyone know how long this process normally takes? I am stuck here so far it has been 15 days my partner, my cat :) all my belongings are in the US waiting for me and I can not get there... Very frustrated about this whole process and would love to know if there was anyway I could find out how long it will actually take?

Normally an E3 visa takes a week only!

Thanks and sorry for the rant!

Presumably you have resolved the issue, no set time, just a question of it getting to the top of someones in tray.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Thanks! Yes I assume that it is all resolved, because I gave them the updated information that they needed... I just wish I knew how deep that in-tray was! Or if there was a standard or approximate standard wait time for this...

That's tricky Julia, hope it all get's resolved ok. Sounds like they were able to differentiate what was required.

It does happen occasionally that it goes into administrative processing. It usually means they are just doing extra checks. If you're qualified there shouldn't be anything to worry about. The "administrative processing" as they call it, generally takes around 2 weeks and you just have to wait it out.

You can check your application status on a website and it'll say 'administrative processing' until they finish the checks or receive that outlying info. It's outsourced to some private company so can take a little while, but they should call or email you when it's done.

All the best! :)
