Hi All,

Thought I'd share a recent situation I had with Advanced Parole.

I applied for Adjustment of status from K1, I sent I-485, I-131 and I 765 all together.

I had to go back to the UK for a family emergency, so I visited the local info pass office to get emergency parole. Very fast and simple process.

It was granted but it was only valid for 90 days. I was advised it would not hinder my current applications.

Recently I received my EAD card in the mail, but not the Advanced Parole Document.

I called the Customer Service line and they advised me the document was sent the same time as my EAD card and to wait 30 days. I waited 30 days and still no document. I called again, this time I was told the document was never sent, but It was approved. I was then referred to a L2 officer who advised to me to reapply for advanced parole again with payment. The L2 officer said the document must have been lost in the mail !

All this didn't seem right, so I visited the info pass office. They advised me that my I-131 was approved when I asked for Emergency Parole, but it was only granted for a limited time (90 days) in my case. So I have to reapply for Advanced Parole, but no extra payment is required due to a pending I-485.

Understandable I guess, I didn't ask enough questions at the time. Now I have to wait another 3 months for approval.

Hope this helps others with the process of Emergency Parole.

They really screwed yours up. I was granted Emergency Advance Parole when my father only had days to live. Mine was valid for 1 year and it never effected my regular Advance Parole in any way, I currently have the EAD/AP combo card. Never had any issues whatsoever.

Did you look at your EAD card carefully to see if it is the combo card saying it also serves as Advance Parole?
