See, hearing stuff like that makes me feel better that Mimi's outdoors. I often wonder if she thinks I'm evil cos she's an outdoor cat, but my allergies simply could not handle her being inside. :( I wanna do right by this iccle thing so bad.

as she's been an outdoor cat, i don't think she'd adapt too well to being an indoor cat. it's best to start keeping them indoors when they are a kitten, not later. it's a preference of mine to keep mine indoors as i certainly don't want him to get run over by a car. and he's so cute and friendly someone would be happy to take him home :(

Yup, I agree with Charles. We have 5 cats. One is a stray who adopted us. He is an outdoor cat, although we do bring him in at night. He remains separated from the other 4 and sleeps on our bed.

All the others are indoor cats. One of them (Elmo) has a portosystemic shunt and is the size of a 5 month old kitten (he is 3 y/o). He has memory and co-ordination problems so to let him out would be a death sentence. He would get run over immediately, get lost or attacked by other cats protecting their territory. His brother (Ziggy) is fine but, they are both my UK cats, he has always been an indoor cat. He stayed in to keep Elmo company and it would have been difficult to keep one in and not the other.

The other two cats are also indoor cats. One was already Larry's. He (Lyrus) also has medical problems, so remains indoors. The last one is Sassy. Another stray, she remains indoors as she is young and not yet spayed. I don't want or need a pregnant cat.

They are indoor cats but constantly play with each other. This keeps them fit, active and mentally stimulated.

My childhood cat was an indoor/outdoor cat up north but we had more space there. When we moved here we tried to bring him indoors full time but he was miserable - always meowing at the sliding doors. Eventually we let him be an indoor/outdoor cat again. He did get in a few scrapes and got stung by a scorpion once but he lived to be over 20 years old.

I know cats like being outdoors because it's in their nature but IMO they're better off being indoors or better yet having a screened in enclosure they can play in without worry of getting attacked by a dog or another cat, run over by a car, or having some dork torture them.

Ok, so, I wanted to get this cat thing on a roll since I don't have to work til Monday.

I went to the shelter again today and fell in love with this cat. I went into the room she was sharing with 3 other cats and she was on top of one of those cat tree things, and she started looking at me and then jumped onto my shoulder and started purring and rubbing her lil head on my shoulder. She was adorable! My only consideration was that she is 7 months old and I was really thinking something more like 7 years old. But we bonded!

Oh Lisa her name at the shelter is Mimi, but I might change it. :)

I took a picture of her in this cage they put her in to be taken downstairs to be put on hold for 24 hrs. She's all confused but the (blurry) pic is attached.

In other news, I was also considering this 10 year old cat named Romeo and some white trash lady came and adopted him. She said she would declaw him! I made the guy working there go give her a talk about declawing a 10-year-old cat, but who knows if she will do it or not. She barely even played with him and just took him home. :( I wasn't very happy about that. The stuff I've read in just the last 24 hrs has completely convinced me declawing is sick.

See how a cat claims the owner? lol Congrats

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

They shouldn't let her even adopt the cat to begin with !!! The shelter that adopted mine is strongly against any kind of stuff like this... the first question for us was exactly this one and of course we said no !

You MUST get Mimi...and you have to keep her name!!!! It's a very easy sing-songy name to be all meeeeeeeeee meeeeeeeeeee mommy's little baaaaaaaybeeeeeeeeee, lol

I think I might've just talked you into deffo changing it, lol.

To everyone else, thx for the encouragement about my Mimi....my parents live on 6 acres, so she always stays on the property, and is usually within eyesight of the porch where she lives. And if she's not within view, 9 times outta 10 she's screwin around in my dad's boat, or mine :/ grrr cats, gotta love em

Alex, can you photobucket the pic? you can reduce the size there and just post a linky.

Congrats! Post another pic when you get a chance. I have serious kitten envy right now and need to live vicariously!
