How To Wash A Cat

1. Thoroughly clean the toilet.

2. Add the required amount of shampoo to the toilet water, and have both lids lifted.

3. Obtain the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.

4. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids (you may need to stand on the lid so that he cannot escape). CAUTION: Do not get any part of your body too close to the edge, as his paws will be reaching out for any purchase they can find.

5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a "power wash and rinse" which I have found to be quite effective.

6. Have someone open the door to the outside and ensure that there are no people between the toilet and the outside door.

7. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift both lids.

8. The now-clean cat will rocket out of the toilet, and run outside where he will dry himself.

Sincerely,

The DOG

We are talking about cats, not humans, therefore it doesn't have ANY relevance.

It has direct relevance whether you want to believe it or not.

Spaying and neutering is also another subject entirely. But seeing as you asked, of course I am NOT against spaying and neutering. Mainly because they are necessary to keep the amount of unwanted cats reduced. *shakes head at the ignorance*.

It was unnecessary to neuter my cat simply to prevent more unwanted cats because he does not go outside and he never lived with a female cat. I'm aware that spaying male cats helps with the spraying issue but OMG that only helps the owner.

Shelters put down cats FULL STOP. Whether you had one that was declawed or not. You can't use that as an excuse for taking one without claws.... This why we need to spay and neuter y'see to stop unwanted animals, to reduce the feline population to a managable number. So that ALL cats can have a home. You are trying to substantiate your preference for having cats declawed. There is no substantiation for that. Nothing you can say or argue is going to be correct in this matter and I don't care how you perceive my attitude either.

I'm not trying to change your mind. You have your opinion, I have mine. I would rather see a cat get adopted

I never said it WAS illegal in the USA. But it IS illegal in Europe and in other countries of the world. WHY? Because it is BARBARIC.

No, but you did say it's illegal in the majority of the world. That is not the case.

Whether it is barbaric depends on who you talk to and just because you don't agree with it doesn't make your opinion correct. Some dog owners have their dogs tails or ears chopped or trimmed simply for appearance. Some consider circumcision mutilation (which is why I mentioned it earlier). Obviously those people feel differently than you.

This one is even better:

How To Pill a Cat

1 Pick up cat and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on each side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth, pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.

2 Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat gently in left arm and repeat process.

3 Retrieve cat from bedroom, pick up and throw soggy pill away.

4 Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm, holding rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for count of ten.

5 Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe. Call spouse in from garden.

6 Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws. Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into cat's mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.

7 Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another pill out of foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep up shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set on one side for gluing later.

8 Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with head just visible from below armpit. Put pill in end of drinking straw, force mouth open with a pencil and blow into drinking straw.

9 Check label to make sure pill not harmful to humans, drink glass of water to take taste away. Apply Band-Aid to spouse's forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.

10 Retrieve cat from neighbor’s shed. Get another pill. Place cat in cupboard and close door just enough so that head is showing. Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick pill down throat with plastic band.

11 Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Apply cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus shot. Throw t-shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.

12 Call fire department to retrieve cat from tree across road. Apologize to neighbor who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat. Take last pill from foil wrap.

13 Tie cat's front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table. Find heavy duty pruning gloves from shed. Push pill into mouth followed by a large piece of fillet steak. Hold head vertically and pour 2 pints of water down throat to wash pill down.

14 Get spouse to drive you to emergency room. Sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearms and removes pill from right eye. Call furniture shop on way home and order new dining table.

15 Arrange for ASPCA to collect cat and contact local pet shop to see if they have any hamsters.

You leave a cat 10 hours a day M-F?? Have you considered why the heck it claws your house down? I'd claw it too and ###### everywhere for good measure. There is a CLEAR reason why your cat scratches, but rather than address that reason you just take the easy thoughtless route. Cats natural behaviour is to be outside hunting and playing. Not to be locked in a show room.

Circumcision rarely causes long term pain or mental damage so it really isn't relevant. Chopping off the first bone of each of your fingers and toes is, as that is what declawing does to a cat.

Yes, I do think a cat in your ownership is better off being killed than the long term pain and mental anguish a cat has to go through by being declawed and left alone. All for personal selfishness and vanity IMO. Do some reading and find out for yourself instead of justifying why you can be so cruel to a cat! You don't need a cat -- get a stuffed one!

Yes, I leave my cat home alone for 10 hours during the week. Excuse me for working a full time job. FWIW, my cat was declawed as a kitten so he does not scratch anything.

Cats natural behavior may be to be outside and hunting but outdoor cats run a much higher risk of injury, illness, and death. My development doesn't even allow pets so chances are if I let my cat out I'd be reported and I'd have to get rid of him. I let him on the back porch to sun himself but that's as 'outside' as he's going to get.

There are people that are as militant against circumcision as you are against declawing. You have your opinion, they have theirs, and I have mine.

I don't think my cat would like you. In fact, I just called him on lunch. He thought about it but said he doesn't like the idea of being dead very much. He enjoys his life. He has free roam of the house, has plenty of toys & play time, sleeps in my bed with me, and has eaten nothing but high quality food his entire life.

as she's been an outdoor cat, i don't think she'd adapt too well to being an indoor cat. it's best to start keeping them indoors when they are a kitten, not later. it's a preference of mine to keep mine indoors as i certainly don't want him to get run over by a car. and he's so cute and friendly someone would be happy to take him home :(
