To have a good effect on the teeth, the dry food has to have the pieces of a substantial size, so they can crunch them. Some cats "gulp" down dry food rather than chewing it...that may have been the problem with your cat, Lou.

Mimi threw up the other day and I saw a lot of the dry food in her vom still in it's original shape. I also just bought her moist treats, and she wouldn't touch it, (it was small, in the shape of a heart) and then when I broke it apart, she ate it.

What do I do??? Help, cat people!!

Some cats don't chew their food, it's just one of those things. I wouldn't worry about it. With the moist treats she is just being a fussy lady and making you work to own her....

Declawing is not beneficial to the cat or the cat race...it's purely the owner being selfish. And yes, cats can function without claws...but it isn't nice and it isn't fair. Ever seen a cat wash it's feet and claws? Look at how bloody proud they are of them... :)

Awwwww :luv:

Here's another question....how do you wash a cat?

I even bought these organic 'cat wipes' but I tried it once and she flew off the porch. She loves being brushed, but nothing else...so should she be getting washed? Like isn't it unsanitary, or does she take care of that herself?

Nah, she'll take care of herself. A good brushing is sufficient, removes excess fur and keeps down shedding and furballs!

to wash a cat:

1. get suit of plate mail

2. notify your local ambulance service and hospital of your impending arrival.

3. spend next 2 months trying to catch cat

you should never need to wash a cat unless she is covered in something yucky that she can't remove herself. Cats are by nature exceptionally clean and love to wash. They really dont need human intervention in that area at all. I have never washed mine as they do a wonderful job themselves. Cats dont smell either like dogs (at least I dont know of any that do). Brushing is great so keep doing that - it moves the natural oils around their fur and keeps it tangle free and in top condition. I think those cat wipes are a load of poop so I wouldnt waste your money.

With my previous marriage, we had two cats, and I had to wash them with special soap, because the ex was allergic to them!! Wasn't fun for me nor that cats in the bath tub!! Luckily we had glass sliding doors!! As tiem grew on, they got used to it better. By far the easiest route was to divorce the ex, she kept the cats, and I kept the dog! lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

What happens if you just drop the cat into a bathtub full of water?

plan on having your legs torn up as the cat exits the water and uses you as leverage to get outta dodge.

I have actually washed cats quite a bit, the key is to hold the scruff firmly and talk to them...oh and don't fill the tub very much, put in a little water and top it up slowly once the cat is in it, making sure the water is at the correct temp.

After you get them out wrap them up tightly in a towel for a few minutes to remove excess water.

I won't say I haven't been scratched, but it hasn't ever been that bad.

Hah when I laughed at her for falling in the pool, she had an attitude for like a full 24 hours.

Laughed - when you should have been taking pictures. You totally ruined it for us. :P

How To Wash A Cat

1. Thoroughly clean the toilet.

2. Add the required amount of shampoo to the toilet water, and have both lids lifted.

3. Obtain the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.

4. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids (you may need to stand on the lid so that he cannot escape). CAUTION: Do not get any part of your body too close to the edge, as his paws will be reaching out for any purchase they can find.

5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a "power wash and rinse" which I have found to be quite effective.

6. Have someone open the door to the outside and ensure that there are no people between the toilet and the outside door.

7. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift both lids.

8. The now-clean cat will rocket out of the toilet, and run outside where he will dry himself.

Sincerely,

The DOG
