My vet said it can be good for the cat to walk! You just have to do a few weeks training with the harness indoors. My cat is pretty fearless. She was ready to explore the whole apartment the first day she was home and the only thing that freaks her out is the vacuum. I dunno, I'm definitely considering it..

@Lisa that fort is so cute, hehehe. good luck with the quitting smoking this time. post your quitting on VJ and we'll all hold you accountable :)

Does anyone walk their cat? When the snow melts I'm thinking about it...

hope you've done some training indoors first. otherwise it will turn into taking the cat for a drag.

Indeed! Jenny started off as an indoor/outdoor cat, but after we moved down to VA I didn't want her to get lost so I decided to try and take her for "walks". Got her a cute little harness and leash and all was well as long as we went where Jenny wanted to go. Any time I tugged on the leash to go where I wanted to, Jenny would flop on her side and I would end up dragging the cat. So, as a compromise, I got a super long leash and anytime I went out into the back yard she would come out with me. That way she was always supervised but still got to go where she wanted in the great outdoors, chase bugs, roll in the dirt and eat grass (and thankfully puke it up outside so I didn't have to clean it up!).

You might have more luck since you are starting with a fairly young cat, but also keep in mind your walks could turn ugly if you come across a dog!

Sadly, the tabs are mine...but not after March 20th! I've set a date to quit for the last time, lol

Good luck, Lisa!

Another question. My cat really loves that Cat Dancer toy but is otherwise a fan of most toys of that style. I don't like to leave her alone with that toy, though, because it's piano wire. Anyone have any ideas for toys that allow for independent play that are kind of that style?
