(CNN)More than half the nation's governors -- 26 states -- say they oppose letting Syrian refugees into their states, although the final say on this contentious immigration issue will fall to the federal government.

States protesting the admission of refugees range from Alabama and Georgia, to Texas and Arizona, to Michigan and Illinois, to Maine and New Hampshire. Among these 26 states, all but one have Republican governors.

I'm surprised 25/26 of these states have Republican governors. I thought the split would be more even, given all this new Republican diversity I've been hearing about.

The one democrat governor. What does her last name have to do with anything?

Well it was sort of a joke being that's probably not a name you'd find with people on the mayflower...

No she is not Muslim neither is her husband so that was not the point. Although that is a pretty common Muslim name it is also an Irish and Hebrew name.

It was kind of funny, but I wasn't sure if you were joking or not.

Pure grandstanding. These governors have no legal way to impede anyone from crossing state borders. They'd be more suited to give up their elected offices in the US and find jobs in China, NK or Russia. Their ideology would be right at home in these countries.

True, they are merely stating their opinions.

If it's all for show, it reflects on the demographics of the people in the given those states. The governors are saying what they think the people want to hear.

The irony, is that in turning their backs to the values that make America great, they really concede victory to the terrorists. In 26 states, the terrorists won.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Denver has taken in many Somali refugee's too. Several have job's at the hospital where I work. My encounters with them have all been cordial. However I would not make a broad generalization of the Somali people based on my limited encounters.

No terrorists attacks so far though.

Maybe they just selected the Christian Somalis?
