I would assume that if the B2 applicant that was denied had a 'USC Wife' that would be an automatic denial????? Am I missing something here? I am from Africa too....and I know the schemes too...most of them want to come to the USA.

Ohh no, obviously a lot of spouses of US Citizens visit the US.

But certainly an important factor and when you look at the length the OP went to describe his experiance a very odd one to leave put?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

True yes. However, is the spouse is a USC (and presumably living in Ghana???) there is an incentive for him to overstay in the US? Then the USC would follow him?

The CO obviously see through these ruses...

I assumed the wife was in the US? I could be wrong.

The wife of the B2 visitor who was denied? Wow...if so automatic denial then

No

But when added to everything else mentioned, yes.

the 'OP' failed to mention his USC spouse...(which is evasive behavior, not a good sin)...and as to the OP's USC spouse, well, sorry, you've never done my job and never will...your Ghanian spouse presented a picture that is all to familiar...trying too hard to win a visa...and with an apparent USC spouse, there is no way any CO with any sense would hand over a tourist visa to him because he would never ever return to Ghana....notice that if said birthday party was yours, he failed to mention that...(cover up)...but again, it makes zero sense to spend thousands of dollars to attend a party....unless there were other reasons for that visa request...ones that are not being shared....and that is my opinion based on years of experience dealing with applicants just like him....transparent as glass. Can't wait to hear the next reason for going....

Dear HFM181818. Here is where you are way off the mark. The birthday party is and was important to me. Yes, I am the US Citizen. Yes, the business is legit has been since 1960. Yes, i have been to Ghana multiple times. I too am in a positon where i work with "suspect" individuals. I do my job and due diligence. See, my mother battled cancer for two years and died. I wanted him with me to celebrate life. No one was claiming discrimination in the post, there are many forms of bias. Quite frankly I think you covered them all. No one said they were suing you, quite frankly who cares. Yes, you the CO was doing your job upholding the US law with the presumption all applicants are applying with the intent to imigrate. The burden is on the applicant to prove otherwise. However, you, the CO are to review the information and yes your observations are key as mine are I my work. When there is no true due diligence and you are painting all applicants with the same brush you are not following your policy and regulations. Begs me to wonder why we are operating embassies?. You are not saving the world here and unfortunately became a bitter judgmental person from the work you do. For that I truly am sorry for you. The comment of you as a foreigner, well we all know America is a melting pot, no one claimed you have Ghana in your family tree. I bet there are other countries though :) take good care and for proving that not all are as they seem and sometimes making statements without all the facts or your failure to ask questions leads you down the wrong path. I am smiling at all the wrong presumptions you made, work, business accusations especially the comment about who goes to a birthday party thousands of miles away? Guess what!? we do, I do, my kids do :) and enjoy a visit for a few weeks. Life is good! Have a wonderful evening.

OP don't let HFM181818 repeated cynical opinions get to you.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I have heard other bad stories about allowing others to complete visa appilcations in your behalf. Once incorrect information is enter, it follows you forever. I hope things work out for you in the future. Best of Luck!

Fair question. Probably believing marrying an American makes him a USC. In for a short sharp shock if that is the case.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Certainly must have been the situation in my case, quite why they do not like the Welsh I do not know, most Americans do not even know where Wales is.

My Welsh corgi dog and Welsh pony take offense to this statement. It is those damn English that have given us so much indigestion. However, I do agree that most Americans don't know where Wales is located. We do, however, agree that you bowheads, blue, and humpbacks should be protected. I can't imagine what it's like to see a friend or relative harpooned by some crazy Japanese fishing vessel. Godspeed to the Wales!

I have been through the process, refused. You mention you were a Student but could not complete a B2 application? You needed help?

My recollection is that there was not much to it.

It is common for "connection men" in Ghana and most African countries to charge people and file the paperwork. Heck, there some who charge people just to do the DV lottery.

The problem is that, they fill out the application and sometimes put fraudulent information on it, especially, marital status such as indicating that the applicant is married to some unknown victim of the scheme.

So unfortunately, some of those things have created the bad reputations we are all suffering through.

HFM818 is telling you why your were denied. You may not like his reasons but he is telling you from his experience what the CO probably saw.

But it is good you've learned your lesson.

Good luck
