Has it been issued?

Yes! Just checked this morning and it says "Issued." Thank you for asking! So does that mean it's ready to pick up now?

K1 visa holders don't get a green card right away, so paying for a green card doesn't apply to you guys right now.

Ok, good to know- thank you

Can anyone tell me how long my husband should wait after the CEAC says Issued before he can pick up the visa? It has been saying issued since November 13th. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, the way I understood it was that if you are picking it up you can pick it up whenever it says issued. Is that not right?

Your husband can pick his visa up as soon as it says issued.

@theezeahs

see, it was just a question of couple days!

In my case, after I saw issued the status changed for something like "at mail department, ready to sent off" and that's it. I received my passport with issued visa in a week after they actually issued it

@kattaklizm Yes you were right- thank you! What a relief. Ours isn't being mailed, my fiance is picking it up. He was planning on leaving for Lagos on Sunday but other comments have made me think I should be calling to check if it's actually ready. A little confused there but he's going to try and call tomorrow hoping he can get through. However he has a return ticket already purchased so now I'm worried if it's not actually ready by next Wednesday!

Hope all works out for you. Hope that you got a easily changeable or refundable ticket.

The general forum recommendation is to NEVER make any unchangeable or non-refundable reservations or plans until you have your passport in your hands and it contains the visa.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Oh sorry, I wasn't very clear- I meant that he's going to Lagos to pick up the passport and has a flight to return to his state (in Nigeria) on Wednesday- assuming the visa is ready which we thought "Issued" meant it was. We haven't bought his ticket to the U.S. yet! :) Thank you!

Unfortunately, "issued" doesn't mean it's ready to pick up. Now they have to package up your 'seal envelope' and the passport. and sent it out. I don't know how many days it may take in your country, but for us, our case changed to "issued" on November 22 and we're still waiting for it to be in hand!

You can try to track it on traveldocs, under your country name, but I've been reading from many sources that the traveldocs website very often fails to track a passport at all. Many people have said the website never changed from the red letters that say, "No status on this passport"...even after they had the visa in hand and traveled to the USA. I just checked on traveldocs this morning and ours still says there's no status. It's supposed to change from "no status" to "Origination scan", which means your passport has left the U.S. Embassy and is in transit to the delivery location. It is however not available yet. Then it's suppose to change to, "Ready for pick up" which means you can go get it.
