What does "Administrative Processing" mean?

Hi guys, We were approved for a K1 visa on 11/5 and I have been checking both CEAC and ustraveldocs to see when the visa will be ready. CEAC has been saying "Ready" since 11/12 but it said something about being ready to schedule the interview so I didn't pay much attention to it and had read that it would say "Issued" or "ready for pick up" when it was ready. ustraveldocs only says that "Your passport is still with the US Embassy/Consulate". So today CEAC had been updated saying "Administrative Processing" which could take several weeks and to follow instructions given at the interview. We weren't told there was any problem or to do anything. Should I be worried? I appreciate any knowledge on this!

It should say ISSUED any moment now. Mine took less than 24 hours between AP and ISSUED.

Good sign they have your passport. Were you handed a blue sheet to come for your visa? Sounds like they requested something from you. What were you told after the interview ended?

USCIS mailed: 2015-04-10

NVC RECEIVED :2015-04-16

Case # Assigned: 2015-04-22

Received DS-261: 2015-04-22

Submitted Ds-261: 2015-04-22

AOS Bill Invoiced: 2015-04-23

AOS Bill Paid: 2015-04-23

Submit AOS and IV packages: 2015-04-25

Scan dates for both packages: 2015-04-27

Ds-261 Reviewed over the phone: 2015-05-01 (9 days after submission)

IV Bill invoiced: 2015-05-04

IV Bill paid: 2015-05-08

AOS checklist received by NVC: 2015-06-19

IV Bill online paid again:: double payment but will get me through ds-260 ( email request for refund will be sent soon) 2015-06-21

IV Bill shows as paid: 2015-06-23

IV Application DS-260 FINALLY SUBMITTED: 2015-06-24

(I guess scan date is 2015-06-24)Hopefully, a shorter wait to case complete.

CASE COMPLETE !!! August 5th 2015

Interview date ***finally. November 10th, 2015

Interview Results: APPROVED! Less than 5 minutes. Glory to God.

My fiance had the interview- he was only given a (green?) sheet about paying for the green card or whatever before entering the U.S. They didn't request anything from him and the interviewer just told him that he would try to get it finished as soon as possible.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I interviewed on Friday 13 at Lagos and was approved. I was given a white sheet to pay $165 and pick up my visa in 10 days. My case on CEAC still says Ready. I think u are good, cos i heard it goes from Ready to AP to Ready and then Issued and it happens within a day or two. Ur visa should be issued today or tommorow.

I just talked to my fiancé, the sheet he was given was white to pay the $165. Ok, thank you guys. I appreciate it and feel much more at ease!

Thank you! And I thought it was strange to have to pay for a green card but then why would they be giving it to K-1 applicants?

it's normal practice, no worries. They want to make sure that you submitted everything correct before they issued the visa. You will see "issued" soonish!

K1 visa holders don't get a green card right away, so paying for a green card doesn't apply to you guys right now.
