Left Green Card at home whilst traveling internationally - Help needed

As stated above, you likely won't be allowed to board the flight because you don't have an ESTA, a visa, or a green card (in your possession). You would need to obtain a transportation letter from the US embassy.

You usually need to make an appointment in advance I would suggest that your relative overnighting your green card to you is going to be a simpler solution than going through the hassle of obtaining a letter, since it will probably be a couple of weeks until they can give you an appointment.

So, I would suggest rescheduling your flight for a few days and then getting your green card couriered to you. I doubt you have any option other than that or the letter.

The VWP allows most British Citizen passport holders to visit the US for up to 90 days. The types of journey permissible under the VWP include tourism, certain types of business visit and transit to another country. If you have a British passport that describes your nationality as something other than ‘British Citizen’, or if your passport has been extended by 12 months under exceptional measure put in place in mid 2014, you don’t qualify for entry to the US under the VWP and you’ll need to apply for a visa from the nearest US Embassy or Consulate.

From what this page says, if you have a valid British passport you can get back without a visa and then fix the problem if there is one, with immigration. For all they care you are just anotuer UK visitor.

Yep go to consulate & obtain transportation letter

If you get on the flight without that letter e sure MIL

is there B4 your arrival & tries to speak to someone

in immigration like a supervisor

Without the transportation letter the OP won't even be on the plane so there's no point for MIL to speak to CBP.

Have it mailed overnight.  This happened to me while travelling internationally in Asia and this was the advice i received after going to the US consulate.  I also work for a fortune 500 company and our lawyers gave me the same advice.  It worked.  I got my card by mail and travelled back to the US without any issues.  The consulate said to us the other process like filling paper work and filing stuff etc. could take weeks.  So, if it could be mailed that would be the best/fastest option.  Note that they have to verify your info before they let you back in so filing the paper work at the embassy is just the start of the process. Also the forms could request information that may not be the easiest to obtain if you are travelling and didn't bring all your immigration documents with you. (If you've filled out immigration paper work, you might know what i mean).  So basically mailing was the option i chose and it worked well for me.  I would have missed my flight otherwise.  There is always some risk of having issues with the mail, ie mail getting lost etc, but typically that is a much lower risk. Anyways, I had my card mailed, that was the advice i received, and it worked out.  This was in 2015.  Thanks! TH.
