Birth Certificate Error - Interview Anyways?

Hello All,

My fiancé has been working on getting her birth certificate fixed for some time now and we need to be setting up the interview over there. It had really been a process getting this far with it, just to fix the error in the X mark by gender. She did all of the work months ago and it has been in the paper pushers’ hands since then. Last week she went to go find out what was going on with it, since it was supposed to have been done and so we can get the visa interview set up, and they said it may take another couple/few months and several trips to Manila (hours away from where she lives). So, she had gotten some advice from someone that deals with these types of things (some kind of business) and they said she could go ahead and pay the attorney to give her a "Affidavit of Something-or-Another” and then go ahead and set up the interview. I am worried that if she goes to the interview without all of her and our documents completely together, that the interviewer may simply deny the visa or have it tied up in some messy state of “approval pending”. On the other hand, as this person who gave her the advice said, she could get a “pending” approval for the visa with the stipulation that she just needs to supply her official birth certificate when it is finally done. Has anyone gone through anything like this? Any advice?

Thanks!

Well, anyways...

We opted to go ahead with the interview after having rescheduled it once already thinking the birth certificate would be fixed by the new date - it wasn't fixed The bottom line is the visa was approved. The visa processing is pending the corrected version of the birth certificate. This clerical error has taken about a year to get fixed - after having worked on it for a few years of and on. It has been a lot of work and things just move so slow in the Philippines (a touch of venting or sympathy for someone else reading this that might have found themselves in the same situation). If everything goes as it has been promised, the amended birth certificate will be in our hands this next Friday. And then, we'll be beginning our life together in about a month. :luv::dance:
