Hi all,

My USC girlfriend is filling in the I-129F to petition me as her fiance. I am UK Citizen. I’m just trying to work out how horrid the questioning will be at the border for Xmas and so have a question to ask about when the K-1 petition and VISA application will be flagged up when I enter.
I was wondering at what point will the K-1 petition gets linked to me on the CBP computer system at the border? If we submit the I-129F at the end of November, would it pop up when entering the border when I enter the US in December 2015?
The reason I ask is just is because I’m confused how they would link it together the petition and my passport at such an early stage. At no point does the I-129F (or the biographic information on the G-325A) ask for my UK passport details. How would the petition get connected to one’s passport? It seems strange for it to be linked solely through my name and date of birth because that doesn’t seem too efficient at all and could lead to errors.
Would my K-1 application only be flagged up against my passport after filling out the DS-160 (i.e. once the I-129F is approved).

They don't. Until the visa is in your passport, the only ways for the CPB to know there is a petition is if they dig really deeply, or you tell them.

They don't?

How do the CBP mention the K1 application when they are at the border then when going through the K-1 VISA process? i.e. Yes, you can visit

Simon.

Apologies for the grammar/poor wording in my last post.

"They don't?

There are various reports of non-US Citizen going through the K1 application process having it mentioned to them at the border (i.e. Yes, you can visit). How do the CBP know that there is a pending application?

It often comes up because when you enter the country, you are asked the purpose of your visit. I always said I was coming to visit my fiancé. The next question is usually whether or not you've filed for a visa.
