I just filed my petition for alien fiance i129F and received my receipt number. I am anxious to have my fiancé in the U.S. With me. Can someone please share their real time experience. How long after you received the receipt number did you have to wait for approval? I see processing time online is 5 months, how accurate is that?

Thanks.

Usually the wait is about a month.

it doesn't look like you have created a timeline yet. When you input your NOA1 date, you will get an estimate as to your NOA2 date. I believe all the K1s are being sent to CSC now which is desirable since it takes them about a month to process the paperwork as opposed to TSC taking several months.

All the info in the VJ K-1 timelines list is based on people's real-time experiences! Use the dropdowns at the bottom of the list to filter the results if you want to narrow them down to a specific country or service center.

You might also try reading some of the monthly Filers threads in the K-1 Case Filing And Progress Reports forum; to get a more detailed impression of how long things can take and the different issues and questions than might come up.

Eighteen years in the US and I still don't understand Velveeta, TV ads for prescription drugs, only getting 2 weeks paid vacation, or why anyone believes anything they see on Fox "News".

Petition approval is not the same as visa issuance.

Did you front load your petition with the evidence that is often useful in HCMC? If not, do some reading in the Vietnam forum to learn what you ought to gather up to bring to the interview. HCMC is not like most consulates/embassies. Study what others have experienced there and it will aid you in preparing.

Be patient, there is a long, bumpy ride ahead.

Anh map, I provided all evidence to date...daily FaceTime log, iMessage, emails, FB print screens, proof of my last travel, future travel, hotel confirmations.

I will check out the Vietnam forum to other suggestions to prepare my fiancé for her interview in Saigon.

Thanks.

Evidence of all travel and time spent together. Evidence of a Dam Hoi / Dinh Hon. The problem with bringing it all to the interview is that it may or may not be evaluated. The decision is often make prior to the actual interview so what she brings hopefully fills in any gaps in what the CO wants to see. A timeline of your relationship (a narrative) is also a good idea at HCMC.

It's one of the highest fraud consulates/embassies so the bar is set a lot higher.

Good luck.

Case sent and getting NOA1 - 4-6 days

Approval NOA2 (CSC) - 30-35 days CSC is going fast these days

NVC recieve and process 20-30 days

In transit 5-7 days

Embassy process - vary depending on the embassy, shouldn't take more than a couple months.

These are just estimates and each case is different but over all this is the pattern. I look around on the K1 timelines regularly and the whole process take around 90-120 days for normal cases.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
