So of course the whole K-1 visa process is like a 3 ring circus, and it seems to be hard to find answers or what to do next. I think its crazy how everyone going for the K-1 visa has different processes they go through based on the Country they are from, but we are all ending up in the USA. I feel like this is where the problem is.
My fiance and I got approved by the USCIS July 14, 2015. My lawyer told me know we wait for him to get his packet from the embassy with instructions. On 11/05/15 my fiance had still not received his packet, most people would say why did you wait so long to make phone calls and stuff, well I was going off of my lawyers word. I did some research, called the NVC and they informed me that my case was sent to the embassy August 5th, 2015. I never got a letter or email being notified this. I then called the Embassy and they had my case and they told me I had to fill out the DS-160, scheduling an appointment profile, and pay my visa fee. My fiance and I did just that and also sent an email to the embassy telling them our situation, asking for an extension because our case expired 11/12/15, and we gave them all the information they needed. We included case number, passport number, birthday, email, and full name in email. Our case was escalated to Post and we were informed that the superior had our case. I couldn't find really anything on here or even on google on what escalated to post meant and who is a superior and what do they do. Every time i contact the embassy they either don't have answers or don't speak English. I called my lawyer to ask her and she said she doesn't know, and proceeded to tell me basically that i need to pay her more money to ask questions. I also contacted my Senator and they gave my case to a case worker because of the issues I am having.

My question is does anyone know what a status of "Escalated to Post" means?

Also who or what is a superior in the embassy?

Will getting my senator involved help?

"Escalated to Post" means your file is getting moved to the top of the pile, so that it can be reviewed and a decision made on your case very soon. I don't know what the exact title of the "superior" might be, but it sounds like your file has been given to a senior consular officer, whose decisions will not need to be reviewed by someone else before the case can progress. If that's the case, I'm not sure that getting your Congresscritter involved at this point would be useful, although it's definitely something to keep in reserve if things don't start to move quickly from here on.

Eighteen years in the US and I still don't understand Velveeta, TV ads for prescription drugs, only getting 2 weeks paid vacation, or why anyone believes anything they see on Fox "News".

Thankyou this information helps. Do you know how we go about scheduling an appointment or do we have to wait for the consular to make a decision. Why does a case need to be reviewed by a consular before an appointment can be made also? My fiance has also not received anything from the embassy regarding the process and the forms they send him. Should we be worried?

I can't do anything more than guess, but my first interpretation of what you've been told would be that your request for an extension has been passed to a senior officer at the embassy, who will look at your file to verify what you've told them. But that may not be 100% correct, and here's what makes me think so.

I just did some searching and I found another VJ member who just went through almost exactly the same experience with the embassy in Tunis. Go here and read her posts on the April 2015 Filers thread. In her case, the "superiors" at the Embassy were eventually the Consul General and the Ambassador himself. Perhaps her posts will give you some ideas of how to proceed? Getting your Senators involved might not be such a bad idea after all.

Cases in the MENA countries can go very slowly with long periods of time where the background checks are done. It gets frustrating. Having your Senator's office shake the tree can help and it sounds like you've got some movement.
