Is it ok to abbreviate Ho Chi Minh City on the forms?

I have been using HCMC on the I-130 and g-325 because Ho Chi Minh City will not fit in a lot of the blanks. Is that ok? Just wanted to make sure I don't make a dumb mistake by not writing it out. Thanks.

I don't even use that. I used Saigon

I used Saigon, too. If it's the standard for global aviation and maritime navigation, good enough for a form. It's an American form and Americans generally use Saigon. If you don't understand why, perhaps you should read some American history (circa 1960-1975) and specifically Southeast Asia. In fact, if you're marrying a Vietnamese woman (they are, of course, awesome!), you should be keenly aware of American-Vietnamese history. You owe it to her, her family, yourself, and your relationship. I always say "Saigon" in the southern half of the country, and often switch to HCMC in the northern half. Again, a little history lesson will explain why. Regardless of name, Vietnam is a beautiful country, with beautiful people, and a history that is as fascinating as the country's future. I love Vietnam - and obviously you do, too. Good luck!

I know about the history in Vietnam. Even though most people here call it Saigon, they use Ho Chi Minh City for all official documents, forms, and addresses etc. My only question is if it is ok to use HCMC.

By the way I do call it Saigon, but for any official paperwork I prefer HCMC.
