This is what I found on the Missouri DMV site..... not sure if it helps or not...
Proof of Lawful Presence for Non-U.S. Citizens

All applicants must present appropriate Immigration Naturalization Service States Citizenship and

Services (USCIS), or governmental documents, indicate their current applicant status.

All documents must be valid at the time of application. Applicants will receive a license, nondriver license, or instruction permit with an expiration date equal to the expiration date of the immigration document (not to exceed the term of the license, nondriver license or permit). Applicants whose immigration documents indicate an expiration date, as “Duration of Stay” will be issued a one-year license, nondriver license, or permit.

One of the following:

• I-551 card (Resident Alien Card)

• Passport stamped “Approved I-551”

• Passport stamped “Processed for I-551”

• Re-entry Permit I-327

• I-94 stamped “Processed for I-551”

Expiration dates do not indicate the expiration of legal permanent resident status.

I just read Marilyn's link in context and it appears that your DMV worker may be reading-comprehension challenged!

:innocent:

You are still an LPR, the expiration date on your card DOES NOT indicate expiration of legal permanent resident status.

Go talk nicely to a manager & try to not take no for an answer. You can also print the pages off of uscis.gov that explain conditions on your status. And make a copy of your extension NOA to put into their hands.

Good luck, don't give up on this one!
