Hey everyone, on Oct 26 I received an email that gave me a receipt number and said that form I-797 is being sent to my address and told me that my application has been sent to the California service center. Is this the NOA1 or the NOA1 isn't until someone opens up the application in California and starts working on it?

Thanks

NOA1 really just means...hey we got your stuff...you're in the system. So its kinda semantics at this point if you want to call it a NOA1 or not. Ultimately the NOA2 means we approved your petition which is what matters. You got a receipt number so I would consider it NOA1. We received your stuff. We touched it. Heres your receipt #. Thats NOA1 in my book.
