I live in a small (and growing smaller) place called reality. Where people are responsible for their actions and can't blame everything that doesn't go their way on the govt. or race. It's a lonely place here in reality.

As far as your allegedly "informed" voters, 96% of the black voters chose Obama in 2008. That tells me that people were voting based on race rather than issues. And I'd like to know what you consider informed? What is the metric? I suspect you're just pulling things out of your %%%, which isn't surprising around here. You probably think they're "informed" because they agree with your position. Pretty cool how that works.

What was the percentage of black people who voted for any other president (all being white), and what party did they vote for? What about college students? What was that percentage? Women? Which party consistently gets higher educated white and non white voters ? Prior to president Obama, there have been 0 non white candidates winning their party to compare and contrast your statement that all the 96% of black people voted for a person of color simply because he is black. You may find that if Ben Carson wins his parties nomination, he may not garner the same 96%. I'm not saying that there are some idiots who vote based on skin color, religion and party line. The majority of people electing Obama did so because of his message and policy. If what you say is true then he should have lost all of the white vote and Asian vote and Latino vote because this group of people tend to vote conservative and republican. But he didn't. The vote he lost was the old white men vote, the same guys who consistently have elected all of our other presidents. This election will be the test depending on each nominee. Most people vote on party lines, because their families have always been republicans or democrats, not because they think the candidate is cute. People are informed if they get their news about policies and issues from sources other than Fox News, msnbc, CNN etc. When they actually bother to read both sides of the argument and then cast their vote, we do that in parts of this country. Not everyone is an imbecile. Although from the looks of the leading candidates on the republican side, the media seems to be showcasing them with a giant spotlight. You're informed if you vote on an educated level regardless of whether or not you agree with me or share my political opinion. Don't assume to know me, how I vote or who I vote for.

I don't assume to know you. All I can do is base my opinions on what you post here, and respond accordingly, which is what I've done.

The majority of people electing Obama did so because of his message and policy.

Wow. Just two left from the original cabinet. I wonder how that compares historically.

If this is erroneous, someone will correct it: Franklin Pierce was the only president whose cabinet remained intact from start to finish.

In addition (I seem to remember reading), Pierce was the only sitting president who was not renominated by his own party.

Mine too. The cost of my health insurance went down.

Oh so luck you! You must be odd one going against the tide of hiking premium but decreasing benefits.

I foresee that by the time I reach 60, my deductible will be $10,000 before anything is being covered 50% by insurance :joy:

It isn't odd at all. It's the way it should be. Everyone pays their part, so those like me, who have health insurance, don't have to pay for those who opt not to get coverage.

My company is recruiting so hard that they keep taking the hit from the premium increases. I guess you have to when you use benefits as a selling point. Ours hasn't gone up in two years but like I said, only because the company is paying it.

Just because health insurance through ACA is affordable, does not mean using it will be because of the high deductible (depending on which plan you pick).

I'm hoping those that never had health insurance before are aware of this, because it would be a shocker to find out what you have to pay out first before the insurance kicks in. It's like teaching the American public about finance, they also need to know about how health insurance works.

Unfortunately, the 3rd option is not to pick either one. I had to do this before. Even though it's not the "American" thing to do.

My state's going republican no matter what so my vote is pretty much worthless. I'm probably not going to do it anymore. I'm not a fan of anything that puts me around people utilizing civic functions. Wait in line for an hour, after leaving work in a rush to make it before they close, and have to listen to people prattle on about whatever they prattle on about. No thanks.
