The refugee problem, Isis, Iran, Syria, Lydia, Afghanistan, IMO, goes directly the current state of the area. The Middle East was not properly handled when the British empire was broken up. Israel and Palestine is an obvious example of that. Iran is a direct result of the west propping up a royal monarchy that had no business being in charge of the Persians. The revolution in Iran that created the current regime and its anitamericanism comes directly from our support of the shah. We then armed sadaam to fight the Iranians. That backfired. The. We invaded Iraq, and got tired of the war and left. Between that and lack of action in Syria, the resulting power vacuum created Isis. We're just not good at picking leaders in the Middle East. Our half hearted attempts to stabilize the Middle East have done far more harm than good. We need to get in or out. Have a strong enduring presence that will stabilize the region and accept the cost to doing so. Or get out, and stop supporting regimes that don't share our values.

Well, can you actually argue that gun ownership in America has produced better numbers than France? If you want to put yesterday's massacre as being the worst, that's a fact. But we do that number in about a week and a half here in America since thousands of people are shot every month. Not hundreds, thousands.

No one religion can be said to be more violent than another, because it all depends on how people act upon their religion. Interpretation of the various religious scriptures can lead to many conclusions about the violence or non-violence therein.

Irrelevant to different faiths, all religions call for good morals and peace. So, no one can claim that a religion is more violent than another. One may admit that some religion followers are more adherent to their religion than others and more jealous than others.

Nearly every religion has a sect or group which can be quite violent. The only major religion that does not have (or had) such sects would be Jainism. This is not to say that the rotten apples spoil the bunch, but that they exist regardless of religion. Most religious individuals are rather peaceful and it is not the religion itself that causes the violence, but the willful reading of the religion in such a way as to contextualize the violence within a person's soul.

There have been numerous Christian Death Cults and Christian Governments (such as Catholic Spain in the 1500s) that were quite violent. There were Jewish zealots both 2000 years ago and now who are rather violent. There are Muslims who blow up buildings across continents. The Hindu Tamil Tigers invented suicide bombings. The Buddhist Sohei, Ikki-Ikki, 20th Century Bushido Cults of Japan promoted the idea of killing without remorse, etc.

Also, she asked you how did yesterday shooting not qualify as gun violence since you know, they used guns. So, your move...

I hear people state, all the time that 'god is great'. Not everyone who does so is acting in the name of god. A terrorist shouting 'god is great' no more represents god's will, as does the preacher who professes 'god is great' who abuses children sexually.

Why not judge people by their actions, rather than their words. These people are terrorists. The god of Abraham couldn't possibly have told them to massacre innocent people in Paris or Beirut.
