We know they are extremist. But they consider themselves Muslim hence the name Islamic State. And when they murdered innocent civilians in Paris one of the terrorist shouted "Allah Akbar".

To call them Muslim, is to give them the recognition they want, and to concede them a moral victory. If we in the West don't have the common sense to realize this has nothing to do with religion, and to say so to the world, how can we expect to convince those who are prone to be radicalized that they are not in the righteous and religious path?

Other Muslims consider them Muslims. A workmate of mine who is Muslim said that they are Muslims but extremist. He doesn't mind if they are bombed and killed. Go figure.

There is a difference between saying the terrorists are Muslim, and Muslims are terrorists. That difference appears to be the point of contention lost on some. And for some, I think it's purposeful.

You want facts? I got facts:

There have been 11 mass shootings since 1875 in France. Total amount of people killed over a 140 year time frame, 263. That's including yesterday. Meaning that gun control has done well considering that in this country we have over 300 million guns and how many deaths a year do we rack up? Over 10000 people are killed a year by gun violence here, yet we keep saying we need more guns.

You brought up that Japan doesn't have Islamic violence. Maybe it's because of their strict gun laws. But keep talking about civil rights, as long as we rob those who don't look like us of their civil rights it's not a problem.
