Naturalization Interview

Just want to share my experience during my interview this morning in Fairfax, VA. I was eligible for citizenship through the FLO assistance under section 319 b. It was short - in and out in 15 minutes, the IO checked that my informations were updated, my husband's actual date of assignment overseas. I have answered first six questions correctly so the IO stopped fr there and let me write one sentence and that was it. I could have taken the oath same day, but was told I have to go back first week of June, that is at least 45 days before my husband's duty overseas.

FLO 319 B

"Naturalization cannot take place more than 45 days prior to departure from the U.S. to post. You may, however, apply and start the process if you have received your post assignment notification."

So, yes I am almost there...

For the meantime, I am busy googling Prague, Czech... where we are going to live for 3 years and so happy that this time I can finally join my husband.

Congratulations!

I too obtained expedited citizenship, but under section 319a. My oath took place the following day after my interview, which was 32 days before our departure from the US. I also applied for US passport (expedited service) and received it 6 days before leaving for Germany.

Good luck on your overseas assignment, you're going to love EU!

They asked me if I have travelled out of US since I got my greencard, so just noted it down.

And then the US history - like how many senators are there; who is the vice pres; how many terms a pres can serve, what is the constitution, what do we celebrate on the 4th of july and who wrote the Star Spangled Banner.

Yes I think it is 319b, too! And it is way too early for me to take the oath. My husband's date of assignment is still on July 25.And I can't wait to leave and explore EU, I've been to few places there when I used to work as "flying atsay" but only for layovers. There's nothing like actually living in a certain place. I am looking forward to it. Bdw, where are you guys assigned now?

For me, they asked what's the capital city of NC (State where I took oath), which President freed the slaves, how many representatives are there in Congress, what are the 13 original states of the U.S. called, I can't remember the others, I think they asked me 8 questions. I got them all right because they were lifted off of the review sheet. No surprises as long as you know them all.

We're in Germany for the next 2.5 years, and we're making the most of this opportunity to visit neighboring countries.

hey guys? Is it possible to file for expedited naturalization while in Germany? Do I have to fly back to the U.S. for the interview?
