We are still in the K1 visa process, waiting for Interview Dec 7. But I had a question about the AOS and work permit. Once he gets here end of December we are getting married and doing the AOS. I am pregnant and the baby is Due Feb 7. Thats only one month after us being married and then i will not have any income once I have the baby for maternity leave and him either without the work permit.

Wondering if anyone has had experience with expediting the EAD and how long it could take?

I am just a little worried!

I have no experience, just thought I'd link you to that.

Be aware that *if* you manage to get it expedited, there's no guarantee that he'll find a job right away that's enough to support the three of you. How long are you going to be off for maternity leave? It may be more beneficial for him to stay in Canada and work, and go down maybe the week before the baby is due, instead of in December. This way there's added income.

Congratulations on your little one.

This sounds like solid advice. This situation doesn't seem to warrant an expedite Edited by Transborderwife

I expedited my EAD based on a job offer. I found this is one of the only ways USCIS did anything to assist my case. Processing still takes a lot of time.

Thank you everyone for the replies. Hopefuly I will be able to get short term disability through my job paying after I go on maternity leave until he can get a job. We are also looking into the Job offer option cause there is a place here who wanted him, but they did not want to do the work visa. So it might be different now since he will be getting the work permit.

thanks!
