I'm an American citizen planing on inviting my sister-in-law for holidays. Question is............

Will it be of any benefit to include a copy of our marriage certificate ( her sister and myself ) among the financial documents we'll send to the consulate? I plan on taking care of all her expenses.

Is this for a tourist visa?

If so, what "financial documents" do you mean? Your financial documents and your marriage certifcate has ZERO bearing on her tie to her country. It won't help, and may in fact hurt her chances for a tourist visa. It shows that she has family in the US and that somebody else is paying for her trip.

Well she can't exactly lie when they ask her who she will visit anyway, but yes she has to prove ties and I'm sure they know that since it's that embassy-

Your marriage certificate has nothing to do with your sister-in-law. It does not help her show a strong tie to home to overcome the presumption that all visa applicants intend to immigrate.

Your financial paperwork is also not needed.

Your SIL needs to qualify for a visitor visa on her own merits by showing strong ties to home to overcome the presumption of immigration. She needs to show ties to her home. Ties to the US are not helpful.

No one said anything about lying. Let's not go there. The SIL would need to disclose that her sister lives in the US on her visitor visa application.

This about ties. The other poster is correct. Ties to the US are not helpful and can hurt if the applicant has few ties to the home country.

Are you "sure" that they know this? From the post, it didn't seem like they do.

Right, of course I know she has to prove ties. She's coming to spend holidays with us. And since I plan on letting the embassy know that I'm footing all the expenses, I thought it'll help include financial documents to back it up. Adding taxe forms, proof of employment, affidavit of support, ect.

All your taxes, financial papers, marriage certificate etc are not needed to support her... your sister in law needs her own financial statement whether you are the one paying for her trip or not..I have been in that rute before .. my wife took all her tax, fianancial papers, payment stab etc and also stated in my non immigrant application that, she is the one paying for my trip. They didn't look my supporting documents nor hers.. My wife went to talk to the supervisor at the counslate and he explained to her that, all her documents are not needed to support me.. I need to proof to the embassy and the Co that, I will return to my country after my visit.well, I was not married to my wife at that time thou.. so please have your sister in law own bank statement , employees letter payment stab from where she works etc.. what she make per month is important to them..

hmmm, that helps a lot. Problem is. She's self employed. she sells produce in the market and she's being doing that for at least 5yrs now. But as those of you from Ghana may know, she has no business papers, pay stub, or no one to get employment verification letters from. She does it all by herself

What kind of documents will she need to present to convince the consulate that she will return after her stay?

which she plans to do in all honesty.
