Hi

I am ready to start filling out forms for my AOS having just got married.

I have applied for SSN and it should arrive within another week. Some AOS forms have a SSN field. Is it worth waiting for it before sending off?

How big of a deal is it to not have SSN number on AOS forms?

Thanks

If you have one, they want to know it for the record. If you don't have one, no problem at all. Just file without it if you're ready.

I'm not sure if this is applicable to you.. can I use my married name on the AOS forms instead of my maiden name? i've filed for my SSN but they wouldn't let me have it in my married name as my maiden name is what was on my I-94. I'll have to go back and change my name at Social security office when I get my card to get it changed. I was planning on filing the AOS without the SSN number. Just not sure which last name I should put since it's not related anyway to the SSN.

Thanks

Use your married name on your AOS application. It would cost you ~$400 to change your greencard name.

if you have a SSN already, put it on you AOS application, even if the card had your maiden name. The number is what counts for life. Names change. Fix name later with Social Security.
