Police certificates are available only in person in Guatemala. NVC requires a copy. I live in the USA. So police certificates are not available. Can I submit police certificates during my consular interview?

Yes you can, but you have to ask NVC to waive them until your interview. Keep in mind you also will need the court records (NVC does not require them but Embassy does). Remember the only way to get both is with your DPI. If you dont have one I suggest to get it asap. It may take up to 30 days to get the physical card but they will give you a receipt which can be used to get police and court records. At police office, they will ask you for the copy of your DPI or the receipt, the copy of the payment receipt from Banrural and a copy of your boleto de ornato ( get it from Banrural, the cheapeat one is around 16 q) Also, when you go to get both police and court records do not trust the people offering to get them for you, they may be fake. Better to be safe than sorry.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Hello Lobo,

if you got a checklist from NVC asking you for your Guatemala Police Record you just need to make a letter saying that you will get it when you go to your interview in Guatemala because the only way to get it is if you go in person. a letter saying it with your signature is all they need in NVC they will tell you its fine you just need to get it for your interview.

that happened to my, i received a checklist and a operator told me to write a letter stating why I cant send my Honduras police record to NVC and i will provide it on my interview.

Good Luck!
