no Secondary at POE

I accompanied my wife to the US after she was issued a CR-1.

At our port of entry at IAD (washington dulles airport), we were guided to the non-citizens line, which was fine. When our turn came, my wife and I approached the CBP desk together. She handed her sealed immigration packet to the officer. We were expecting to be led to another room, but to our surprise, the officer processed us at his station. He opened the sealed package, asked some basic questions, and took her biometrics right at his desk.

The officer verified the contents of the package, and reviewed our mailing address. He then put the opened package to the side and informed us the green card will arrive in a couple of months. He stamped our passports and said we're done.

Was this a 'common' process? I'm worried because when we go to track our green card online on ELIS, it still doesn't show up.

It happens more often at smaller airports but it is not unheard of.

When did you enter the USA, ie how long has it been? Have you paid the greencard fee yet?

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Ours was the first I've heard of with no Secondary for a CR1, but good to know it's not unheard of.

POE was November 2.. paid the green card fee Nov 3, the day after poe.

Hopefully paying AFTER poe, albeit the next morning, will not cause issues.

This happened to me at JFK in September. Green arrived about 3 weeks later.

 

My Journey

Priority Date: July 24, 2007 (EAC)

AOS fee paid: February 2013

Request embassy change: May 2013

Son born: September 2013 (added to petition March 2014)

Interview: March 17, 2015 (Joint sponsor needed)

Joint sponsor documents submitted: April 27, 2015

Visas approved and issued: April 30, 2015. Had to return to embassy to do oath for son :)

Visa in hand: May 5, 2015 (two working days after issued)

IV fees paid: August 10, 2015

POE: JFK - September 10, 2015 (one day before visa expiry date - No hassle)

Returned to Barbados: September 28, 2015

Green cards: October 5, 2015 :dancing:

Entered US permanently: March 22, 2016

Applied for SSNs: March 28, 2016 (didn't tick box on DS-260)

SSN received: April 4, 2016;

Learner's permit: April 7, 2016 (in NY you also have to do 5-hour class);

Driver's License: July 13, 2016 (on first try) :dancing:

Mine was for a K-1 back in the day, but I was never sent to Secondary at Boston Logan; I'm now completing the Naturalisation process (well, crossed fingers as my interview is this week) so clearly it doesn't have any kind of impact.
