Filed: IR-5 Timeline

since we got married I have been to Ghana twice. Each time I spent at least 5 weeks. We sent everything to support our marriage including my life insurance policies for 2014 and 2015 on both my wife is listed as the beneficiary.

Do you have family in Ghana?

Visiting a home country, (even for 5 weeks at a time), where one's family and friends reside, is different in the eyes of the CO than visiting a completely foreign country purely for face time with one's wife. The former is not necessarily the same serious proof of the relationship as the latter.

CO does not have to look at anything brought on the day, and to say the least that is weak 'evidence'.

Doesn't have to but should. I have no details what type of remittance slips were submitted, perhaps receipts from a visit which would

not be weak. If they were from buying an ice cream down town then yes they would be weak. I do not assume in this particular topic but

work with what is posted and let OP work through it unless more details are posted.

Remittance slips were MoneyGram receipts from January 2014 till Aug 2015.

"I have been working for the same company for 8 years now. I have never been arrested before or involve in any fraudulent activities. "

If you moved here in 2008 how could you have already worked for 8years in the United States? You need to calm down and get your ducks in a row before you go against any VO. Wish you all da best though.

My wife was denied her visa in Ghana. She went for the first interview and CO told her to bring more pictures, communication records and remittance slips. We gathered all these requirements and I went to Ghana to go to the second interview with her. The CO only looked at the pictures and said she does not believe our relationship is real. She did not even look at the remittance slips or the communication records. She said our visa has been denied and the application will be sent back to the USCIS. I'm a US citizen and I never been married before or neither did my wife. I'm so shock that the CO thought our marriage is fraud. I have a decent job, I have been working for the same company for 8 years now. I have never been arrested before or involve in any fraudulent activities. This CO did not tell us why we were denied, all she said was take your things and go! I need help as to what to do now. Any help will be appreciate.

I'm sorry to hear about this. Me and my husband is in the same category. We have a 1 year old child as well. Our case was sent back 12/2014 and USCIS received it 2/10/2015. We are still waiting. I just wish I would have known from the beginning this would have happened. We would have chosen a different path.

How did you move to the US, Lottery?

Mr Efofie,I'm terribly sorry for the denial. I can imagine how harrowing it is. However, I'll suggest you do a critical analysis of your following statement:

"........................................................... She went for the first interview and CO told her to bring more pictures, communication records and remittance slips.........................."

Now, you need to consider your wife's answer(s) to the CO's question(s) particularly at the first interview that probably made the CO to demand for more pictures, communication records and remittance slips.

I believe this will be helpful when you want to move forward.

This is what I said on the Facebook post when people saying its not needed to submit evidence with I-130.

"I keep seeing people say it's not needed. Well depends on your case.

The history of frontloaded came about in many difficult embassies because people took advice's not to send nothing but bare minimum and told to bring to interview (whether K1 or IR1/CR1). Well many people even now tell in their embassy reviews "CO refused to look at evidence". All that prep and gathering no look. Denied, refused sent back and all the CO had to do was look.

Another reason to submit evidence up front is USCIS reviews and APPROVES it. It's evidence now approved in your case file.

No evidence submitted after USCIS is approved and does not have to be reviewed.

Know your embassy and know your own red flag. You are not making your case eazy pizy for others. You are trying to get approval for your love one.

It matters not if a lazy USCIS adjudicator doesnt want to read all your evidence and doesn't care. You need to appease the CO bottom line.

And on the instructions for a I-130 for evidence it DOES say submit evidence of a bonafide marriage. What that evidence is that's your choice.

No one should be discouraged to prove their case or show evidence.

If you submitted nothing and got Visa, Well praise God. I know of people married for years with kids denied. It happens show ur evidence prove your relationship.

Quality evidence of course over quantity."

Let the choir say Amen ! These FB groups are best to stay away from in regards to immigration questions unless there is a knowledgeable

People forget each case and each embassy is different and so advice is but a grain of salt at best. I partially frontloaded and went to interview prepared. CO only looked at pics - no lease, bank info, remittance, airline info - nothing else. It was as if his mind was already made up to approve. I now tell everyone to front load as much as possible having seeing the stress others went through at the embassy. I watched persons denied without one piece of evidence being checked. So it happens in different embassies as well.
