Oh BTW, OP didn't ask if it was a requirement either.

"need" = "requirement"

...within 30 days after marriage, we need to report or register our marriage to Philippines consulate. I am almost 3 months late already...

Geez.. Her question was how long not if it is a requirement.

But ok, let's see what is required by law:

Under Philippine law, all vital events such as birth, marriage, death, must be recorded at the Philippine Consulate / Embassy which has jurisdiction over the place where the vital event took place.

So don't go telling people it is not required. Clear as day, under Phil. law, it must be reported.

Yes, that's true. And, thank you for adding it even though the OP didn't ask about those things.

Additionally, if you want to reacquire Filipino citizenship, you will need to report the marriage. That's when Chinook reported our marriage.

Is it ok to report marriage after naturalization?

1. As I already pointed out, the OP thought it was required.

2. Please provide any links to people who have had an issue with not reporting their marriage. I know many Filipinos who were married in the U.S. (two couples for 35+ years) and never had a problem with not reporting their marriages. You can live happily ever after here with a green card or with U.S. citizenship. You can travel in and out of the Philippines with no problems. It's really not an issue, so please don't split hairs.

Yes, that's what my wife, Chinook, did. She did so because she wanted to reacquire her Filipino citizenship in order to buy some property in 'pinas.

You can get your marriage certificate from the county where you were married. We went to the county clerk's office and paid about $5 for our marriage certificate.

The marriage Record is a requirement in Number 3. then Number 4 is Marriage Certificate or contract. (please see below. It is confusing me what is this marriage record that they are asking )

Report of Marriage between Filipinos or a Filipino and a Foreign National

The marriage of a Filipino should be reported to and registered with the Philippine National Statistics Office through the Embassy/Consulate General having jurisdiction over the locality where the event took place. Please check the Consulate Finder or the Consulates Link for the states covered by the Embassy/Consulates General in the U.S.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Four (4) original duly-accomplished Report of Marriage Contracted Abroad form, typed or printed legibly in black or blue ink, signed by both husband and wife. Wives should indicate their maiden name as the last name. If submitting by mail, the completed forms must be notarized.
  2. Covering letter (handwritten or typed), addressed to the Consular Section, indicating service/transaction requested and telephone number or email address for contact details
  3. One (1) original or certified true copy and four (4) photocopies of the Marriage Record (original will be returned)
  4. One (1) original or certified true copy and four (4) photocopies of the Marriage Certificate or Contract (original will be returned)
  5. Four (4) photocopies of a government-issued identification card or passport of both husband and wife
  6. Four (4) photocopies of Philippine birth certificate of Filipino spouse
  7. Self-addressed return envelope, with appropriate stamps for express or priority mail with tracking numbers via US Postal Service, or with pre-paid mailing envelope from private courier of choice, if Report of Marriage is to be mailed

Also, going to the ROM form, it is asking for:

1. Age- is this the age during marriage?

2. Last Name - WIFE- is it the maiden name here?

3. Residence - #8 husband and wife - is this the current residence that they are asking?

4. Occupation - #11 - is this the occupation during marriage? or current?

5. Witness - #16 - we don't have witness other than the judge - are we going to place NONE? or place the judge name?

Thanks!

Indeed it is confusing, and I think even if you go there to apply they still need those documents notarized. ?

We simply used our marriage certificate. Maybe another state has what the consulate is calling a "marriage contract." Just use what your state issues.

The other answers should be current information.

I didn't know there was anywhere where you could get married without witnesses. I guess you will have to put the judge's name in there for that one.
