Hi,

My visa has been approved since the day of my interview (September 28) Now it's been over a month and haven't heard anything from them yet. I have no idea why they are holding it up for so long now. I have read that those cases under this status should wait 60days before inquiry. I'm worried because my medical exam result will expire soon. If they issue my visa pass my medical expiration date, do I need to do the medical again?(My medical didn't turn out well last time because my chest xray wasn't normal, thanks God it's not TB.) And if I ever need to do it again, would that mean I have to go thru the same process if they find abnormality in my chest xray, i mean like wait again for two months for the result of sputum? Please advise. Thanks.

Hi Harley44 Good day! My medical expired as well before my visa.. I received an email from the embassy that my case has been reviewed and that they needed my new medical report from st. Luke's and my son as well (and my new NBI clearance as well)

There will be instruction from the email how you will withdraw your passport again from the embassy (window38)

About the medical reports - we did it all over again! How did it go the first time still the same process but my son as he is done with SKIN TEST they just sent him to xray with me that same day..Good thing our xray turned out good! All I know once they found out something on your xray they will forward you for sputum test but in your case they have your medical history better yet calls st. Luke's and ask for information :) that's what I did before going again for our new medical reports.

I hope you get your visa before your medical expired so less hassle for you ;)

Hi, they say visa expires same date like medical result expiration date. My medical expires Nov 18th, does that mean the visa expiration date printed in my passport is also Nov 18th? They haven't delivered my passport yet but someone from the embassy called and asked if I'm leaving the country before the 18th or not. If yes, they will deliver the visa asap, if not, I will redo my medical exam. I am confused, pls advise.

The US Embassy can only issue a visa that will expire the same day your medical expires. Right now, the US Embasy can only give you a visa that expires Nov. 18.

They want to know if you are planning to enter the US by Nov. 18 before your visa would expire.

If yes, then the US Embassy will give you a visa that expires Nov. 18.

If no, then you will need a new medical exam and the US Embassy will give you a visa that expires based on this new medical exam.

The US Embassy wants to know if you are leaving by Nov. 18 because when your me

Thank you for the reply. We are not leaving until Feb or until this stuff is done.

Does that mean the only thing I need to redo is the medical and not to go through the whole process of visa again?

You only need to redo the medical.

Inform the US Embassy that you will immigrate to the US in February 2016. Ask for a new medical exam and ask for a visa that will expire after February 2016.

Best of luck

OK, I was asked to redo my medical by the embassy.

What documents should I bring for my medical?

Ask the US Embassy what documents you should bring to new medical exam. Do it when you tell them that you do not plan on leaving before Nov. 18 when your current medical expires.

How long is medical result good for? (SLEC)

The medical is valid for six months for the visa interview and visa issuance. Your visa expiration date will be tied to the medical date and you will have to be in the US before it expires. So do your medical 5-7 days prior to your interview to give time for the results to be at USEM and that on the back end you have time to pack and leave for the US.

Once your in the US the medical is used for the filing of the AOS after marriage and it has a year validity from the time you took the medical at SLEC. One you complete your medical you will have a DS-3025 document and it will show the validity date.
